this sounds total counter-intuitive, but it works for me.
After the workout (like later in the day), do a weight lifting workout for legs and maybe a little core. Nothing too radical, a half hour works for me.
Nice. After every run or just workout runs? And any recommendations?
Not every run, that would be too much. Too much resistance, too much time, too much like something we already spend too much time on.
The idea is to get blood into those muscles. A little light lifting does that nicely plus keeps the strength up, so i do that at least twice per week but not much more.
So if you find you need to do something additionally on other days, i would just jump on the spin bike or do dynamic stretching and flexibility workout, or jump rope, etc.
Rotate them and as you see what the effects are, play it by feel.
Again, it's just kind of an active recovery that one fits in between each run, esp. when you feel it is needed.
At a minimum. stretch.
