I know he's still a frosh but so are several guys who beat him today. He just doesn't seem to have a fluid running motion, his arms are all over the place and no second gear. I'm think he may be better suited at 400.

No, he needs to leave Georgia and get with a real sprint program. They've screwed him up.
Long term I agree that the 400m will be his best event.

He was 4th on both the 100 and 200 NCAA season best this year.

And I personally think he had the potential to be top 3 in the nation for both. I’m not ready to blame Georgia fully yet. I think it may just be hard to adapt to a new program, he’s still PRing, he just seems he burnt out when others peaked. If he has a bad season next year he should probably reevaluate.

Dude, he has been there for two years, it is not a new program and the coach is leaving.
The problem is he's been working with Althea Thomas. She is the master of riding coattails. She has no idea how to fix a biomechanical issue.
If Boling went to LSU he'd have won the 100 and 200.

appreciated newbies don't know whats good or not.
as a protegee moving up, this is a fantastic result.
i mean 100 #4, 200 #4 and relay #2. same day plus qualifying. and PR.
that means red panties night.
you are talking about a race horse that can carry a load.
awesome meet.

I'm not sure what you're saying here. He was a well beaten 6th in the 100 and 5th in the 200. He had the worst reaction time in the 100 and 4th worst in the 200. And what pr did he set? I'm also pretty sure at least a few of the finalists ran 3 races plus qualifying too.
Just looking at him run he doesn't seem to have any explosiveness in the 100 nor the extra gear in the 200.
I think he's more of a gut runner and needs to go further out. (Paraphrased from Chariots of Fire)
I agree 100%. Any good coach would have moved him up to the 400 by now. He has the talent to be in the top 8 of the US which would have meant a spot in the US Olympic team.
Boling has run a 45.51 400m this year. Think what he could do if he actually trained for it.
He has no 100m killer instinct right now, so he’s nowhere in the 100.
400 is better because it calls for a lower level of intensity, one that seems better-suited to his strengths and demeanor.
Unless he changes 100m coaches, he should shift his focus toward the 200/400.
But the best advice is to change coaches . Now.
Laird should have moved to the 400 two years ago, given that he was worse than Boling is now in both the 100 and the 200.....right?

Tell me who was the least relaxed, least technically proficient runner in the 100 and 200. It's pretty easy to spot. Dude looks horrible, all tension, exaggerated arms, almost fell out of this lane towards the end of the 100. I'd be embarrassed if I were his coaches rn.
Future world record holder in 400. He is tall and thin as compared to world class 100 meter runners.

Not a good argument, I believe Bolings potential is in the 200m, but Boling has shown 400m potential without training for it. Laird never showed 400m potential. He did show sub 20 potential in the 200m 2 years ago though.
I believe he is a 300/400 guy...that is, he cannot stay at 200m and win. Of course he may not be the best in any event, but he has to try moving up. Big talent but not enough to win titles at 200m. 44.74 split in HS???

It's not a question of time but of what we see on the track. He's good, but looks outmatched and this is just against college guys. But we know that Wariner was never a fast 100/200 runner but his speed endurance suited the 400 better. Boling has run the 400 since high school so he does have the endurance, he may also have the speed endurance to run it very well. Now, I wouldn't expect him to be a Wariner because Jeremy was much smoother and efficient but he could be a low 44.
Maybe it is the coaching...he's close to 10/20 flat but that's not going to get much if he doesn't show more than what we've seen recently. I'm also wondering how the LJ figures into this. That could be another event where he could gain world status.

Exactly what I would have replied.
But I have the solution: 400 hurdles!
