Predictions?
I think Robert Brandt will win in sub 27:30. Man is on a different level. It'll be interesting to see who goes with Kiptoo the first 5k
Discuss.

kiptoo or mantz obviously
Brandt?!?!
Brandt?!?!?!!
Brandt?!?!?!?!!
You're crazy.
BRANDT??!!??
What is up with all of the high schoolers on here being obsessed with Brandt?
Same thing with the kid who always spams his podcast.
I would say Mantz and don't think it will be that close at the end. His sole focus for the past month and a half has been running this 10k and the 10k at trials. He's seen Kiptoo now multiple times which makes it easier to know what he'll have to do. There isn't any guessing as to what the pace Kiptoo is gonna run will be which in a way is an advantage. Wildschutt ran with Mantz at XC and wouldn't be surprised to see the 2 as well as Nur running behind Kiptoo. The wild card in all of this is Kurgat who is almost become more of an afterthought in this discussion. Will be interesting to see if he works with Kiptoo or with the other runners as they work to bring him back in. He's very capable to as he's shown in the past of winning a big race
I've got
1)Mantz
2)Nur
3)Wildschutt
4)Kiptoo
5)Kurgat

I'm in college. It's because we see his training and he trains a lot better than Mantz who only does Vo2 work and is burnt out
John Dressel will win.
Any stream available for the race tonight?
Kurgat will win. Dude finished .24 seconds from teare in the 5k. He has a xc title of his own and has the best kick in the field IMO.

His 5000 PR is 13:24? To run sub-27:30, he would have to be capable of 13:15ish.
Anyone got any idea what time UK this will be? Is there a stream?
That 13:24 was his first race of the season and he was on sub 13:10 pace for most of it. Fell apart a little that last mile, but amazing for his first race.
Based of off training, he could totally go at least sub 13:15 right now. Maybe at the 5k on Fri.
Brandt is more likely to not place than win.

He ran 27:38 six months ago, so sub-27:30 isn’t that outlandish. I don’t think it will be such a fast race, though. I see it as a 3-man race (Mantz, Kurgat, Kiptoo) with Brandt my #4 finisher.
Fun to watch 9th year seniors.
This is interesting. He knows the 10k is his event. Do you think he will even try to run the 5k at the trials?

What's Brandt's training look like then?
Kiptoo will likely go out hard in the first 5k and try to build a gap. Mantz, Grivalja, Brandt, and Kurgat will most likely stay behind and lead the chase pack, but the second 5k will be interesting. I can imagine that Kiptoo will slow down substantially and so we'll have to see if it'll be so much so that the pack catches him. I predict the pack catches him with 600-800 to go and it's a fast finish from there.
It's close for me between Kiptoo and Mantz but I'm going with Kiptoo. Hard to imagine Kiptoo won't be able to hold off Mantz having not ran a 5K two days before like last time. The track will also be more forgiving than the OKST course. I'd be suprised a little if it was anyone else besides those two.
