Whoever finishes 2nd and 3rd in the 5k hould be very thankful as they wouldn't be on the team if the WA had made the double easier to do.

Who is going to make it in the 5k? Seems like no one else who would be considered a lock has clearly said they will be running it
I see Abby D'Agostino/Cooper did not start. Anyone know if she has the 1500 or 5000 standard?
Great to see Dani Aragon getting the standard.

Don’t count her out, sometimes you have to race yourself in shape. There’s still enough time.
Enough time?? Her first Trials race is 11 days away. No races before then unless she's doing NCAAs or flying to Florence Italy this Thursday. Unless you mean she's going to race herself into shape at the Trials. A so-so race on Friday, a little better on Saturday and then, SHAZAM!, Top 3 on Monday. Anyone else & I'd say no way, but she knows how to race obviously and maybe all that experience will payoff with a 3rd place two weeks from tomorrow.
There's no excuse for not racing between the clunker at Eugene and today. It's Wetmore being arrogant and closed minded.
Maybe she’s recovering from something. Who knows. Wetmore’s been right enough times- I’d give him the benefit of the doubt here.
She's moving in the right direction. Overall there were not many fast times at this meet, so I am not sure it is worth getting too concerned. She closed about 5 seconds faster than she did in Eugene, which is encouraging. She already has the qualifiers, so she really just needs to fine tune. My guess is she was running a lot of base when she ran at Eugene and was on dead legs. This was a decent showing, the 62.3 final quarter is actually faster than the 62.4 she ran in Daegu and she should continue to improve.

She has made every Oly and WC team since 2008. I think she knows how to prepare herself for the trials. Yes, at some point the streak will be over but we will see if she can pull it off one more time.
She was in her full kit and spikes and did what I thought was a full warmup and drills in the bullpen area but didn’t go out to the start line. She was in tears and being hugged by Simpson in the athlete area after the race. Not sure if there’s an injury or if she just missed the start call?!?

Osika nearly got a 2nd qualifier in the 800.
Osika is peaking at the right time and is showing the best closing speed she's ever had. With the uncertainty around Houlihan, Osika has a decent shot at top 3 in the 1500 at the Trials.
Jenny is lucky that 3:58 from Doha way back in 2019 still qualifies her. She may have a shot at nabbing 3rd (she won't beat Purrier or Houlihan, obviously) if she rounds into shape by the trials, but I doubt that race will be under the standard.
No doubt Cranny, Johnson, Osika, and possibly some others (Dani Jones?) are solid picks over Jenny.

I'll admit I was a little skeptical of Sydney McLaughlin running all those 100m hurdle races. But clearly Bobby Kersee knows more than I do about hurdling. She ran a world-leading 52.83 today in her 400m hurdle opener and still looks like there's room for improvement.
Yeah, looked a bit ragged but still fast.
I have never in 5 decades as a fan seen such a rough technical performance result in such a fast time...in any event. No wonder she seemed kind of ticked off. She probably knows the WR is just waiting for her to get her form together....
Relax- A change of shoes will put her right at 3:58.
Aragon got the 7 second dragonfly bump yesterday, Simpson and a lot of others did not.
Don’t sleep on Schlachtenhafen

No disrespect to Coach Kersee, but her running looks good, but the hurdling not so much. At 5'9", she should not be floating over hurdles and the way she cleared hurdle 8 should she was going run up on 9. The most important thing that race told me she is in sub-50 400m shape right now.
Simpson is officially in trouble. The result here tells us her 4:10 season opener was not an anomaly.
Kamari and Justin were such wimps yesterday.
Swallowman should have at least ran the 800 in 2:00 to break 4. He was too relaxed after finishing in 4:05. His coach needs to tell him winning isn't good enough. At least he had the guts to beat the guy at the end.
Back to the production, announcing. So much dead time watching the sprinters get ready. Can't they go to another event? The PV or other? Even if it occurred earlier. Also, the camera angles were bad. Hate to be critical but we are not reinventing the wheel, all this has been done before, get someone with experience to produce it.
Lewis was out of his element as a play-by-play guy. A common theme among all these announcers is they do not prepare adequately, they should know who to look out for, who is hot, etc. He had the winner of the girls HS mile wrong. Get a spotter to help. These are easy fixes! I thought Carrie was very good as was Bill, the new guy that did the post-race interviews.
As for ATL, I wish they had something on the east coast, NYC, Phil, Bos. If I wanted to support them, can't even buy a t-shirt on their web site. Maybe next year.
But still happy that we have american T&F on TV!
