She Will Be A Great One. Everybody makes mistakes, but she is too cute to really get mad at.

P.O.S.
She false started, but what I immediately noticed when I first tuned in to watch the sprints, was that the starter was holding the sprinters too long in the "set" position. Yes, as coaches we teach our athletes to be disciplined and wait for the gun, but the reality is that if you hold them too long, a fly that zooms by their face while in the "set" position could easily trigger a false start... the person next to her moving ever so slightly could have also been blamed for triggering the false start and even though this was not evident in the video, the movement could have resulted from someone simply moving a finger. The protest should have stated something like the latter point, because since nobody else false started, blaming the starter in this case would not have been successful.
Yall are so pathetic. You have every right to be passionate about something you love. All i see on this app are track know it alls who never been to a championship a day in their life. A bunch of has beens who couldn’t even make a state final if their life depended on it. Chanel probably could of handled that better but she is a national champion prospect and this was a moment for her. She fell out of the start not like her lower end even left the blocks. Her feet were still in position no movement. Now if Pat henry stuck his hook nose in it then he deserved a good cussing out. One of his own athletes had something to say about him this weekend and she is a workhorse for their team.

Gun wasn’t in the air. She fell out of the blocks. Not a DQ. I don’t get why everyone is coming at her response. You all have clearly never competed for anything above a local 5K. This girl is a champion. Why don’t you all grow up. The girl was mad. Some guy called her a trailer park girl. What is wrong with you people.
What's up bro?!
Late, but this is hilarious.

UT bends over hard for athlete admissions
Her supposedly intense reaction doesn't really bother me, but from watching the video in slow-mo I can't see how someone could say this wasn't a false start. She lifts both hands from the starting line exactly how you would when starting the race. It's not like she was out of balance and "fell out of the blocks." Her motion is what I would expect of someone who began to start, then immediately realized the gun hadn't sounded and tried to restrain herself too late. Most of the other competitors remained in the set position. The only mitigating factor that might make sense is if another competitor flinched before her, but it's hard to see that in the video. I'm not sure I agree with the "no second chances" rule, but rules are rules and this seems like a clear DQ.
Yes technically it was a FS, that’s not the question—the question is should she have been sanctioned for it, and if so, what should that sanction have been?
These are judgment calls. Here, the starter sucked and was holding long, there was no positive intention on her part to gain advantage, she did not actually start sprinting, the gun never sounded, and no other athlete was seriously disadvantaged.
This is why many excuses are accepted—a fly or bug, a car horn or other vehicular noise, crowd/bleacher noise, blowing paper/number tags, etc. Anything that the officials can hang their hat on to exercise their discretion.
She should have been allowed to run, and the matter taken up later, based on the evidence gathered at the time of the FS. Not because of “who she is”, but because it’s the fair thing to do. No honorable competitor would want someone else thrown out for something like this. This infraction happens a lot.
But yes it’s an elimination-type championship race. But even so, had I been the official, I would have let her participate in the re-start, after asking her to provide a reason, for the record. And looking back on the long hold, I would have looked for neighboring lanes shaking, twitching, etc.
Real FS’s are rare with a good starter, and if some jerk takes forever to get into the set position the starter should stand them up, warn the athletes and yellow card that lane, and re-start. Again, a judgment call.
I'm in agreement. She should have been permitted to run.
lol that's one of the most obvious false starts that has ever happenened...

That's silly without being there. Did someone in the stands shoot a cap pistol? Did someone in another lane cough suddenly? Did the callback starter agree the runners were held too long?
Did this all occur prior to the "set" position? There is no way to know the details from a video. I watched the Diamond League meet Saturday and a woman in the 400 fell out of the blocks. Nothing was called except calling everyone up.
The games committee, officials, or whoever makes the decision reviewed the situation and made a ruling she should not be disqualified. Then, through what seems like a biased loophole, a coach from a team not directly involved got the people to overturn their own ruling. How does that happen? There was either sufficient evidence to reinstate the runner or not and that should be the end of it.
Could a third coach protest Henry's protest that protested the protest of the false start? And we wonder why T&F is a hard sport for laymen to follow.
It’s actually not that hard for laymen to follow. Runners get into blocks. Starter shoots gun to start race. Athlete leaves blocks before gun is shot. Athlete is disqualified. Super easy to understand.
Stupid thread. She false started. Those are the rules. She should not have been allowed to run. The right decision was made.
Even the announcer said, "oh, no..." he knows she simply false started. I believe we should go back to the 2-false start rule, but that is life. She false started and she even admitted it.
Yea, in all sports it is possible for an appeal of an appeal?
Maybe the NFL should put in a similar rule. Using the T&F rules if a coach appeals (challenges) a call, the other coach can then challenge their challenge. Dumb!
There was either a reason to reinstate her or not. It should never get past that point.
You simply know very little about the sport if you think there are not logical possibilities to sort out when someone comes out of the blocks early.

Usually it takes “compelling evidence” to overturn an exercise of discretion. In the practical bvtt-fvck world that is a track meet, might makes right, and the blowhard big fish will get his way.
Of course I have no idea what happened here, just wanted to throw some light on things.
Also, I admire a young person speaking out, in no uncertain terms, against what they think is injustice. If they’re in the wrong, they should then be put in their place properly—but I think they should express themselves, classy or not. Class is way too much to expect from a butthurt jacked-up sprinter. Ask me how I know😁

She got her Bachelors (From USC) in 3 Years AND Masters (From Texas) in 1 Year.
She just had a Typo. Besides They bend the Academic Rules For Football and Basketball because they produce Money. They don't risk messing with the rules for Non Revenue Sports that have their Hard Core Fans, but basically the following is too small to make money, so they don't care about them at least not enough to risk getting in trouble for.
Douglas - I hear ya man. I felt some type of way but when I saw her I kinda melted. But we must be careful to not be the status quo of chauvinistic men we can sometimes be. Her beauty doesn't get her a pass. She is very cute but honestly after how she behaved and reinforced this mindset without shame - she lost lots of attractive points. God gave her beauty and talent. I drove home from Regionals thanking God for a wonderful experience; I saw good track and met wonderful people. I sat right next to Ms. Cockrell(Anna's mom) and we had a beautiful conversation and she is a classy lady and her daughter is doing great things outside of the sport because she reflects her mother and her teachings. Unfortunately this 'pretty' false start hurdler either didn't get raised well or doesn't have half the character Anna does. I sat next to children who watched these athletes with admiration and she FAILED in being a good human being, a lover of GOD, an example for team, school, and coaches to admire, and especially failed as a role model. Her character on display made her 'ugly' inside and for that she is not attractive anymore (just good looking) but unfortuanately she had no shame, tact, nor humility. She is an aspiring lawyer; well woe unto ye lawyers... for she is everything that is wrong with that profession and others. I hate that as a man of color she let down an opportunity to raise us all up ...but for some - well she reinforced stereotypes about women and people of color. We have to, however, rely upon the inner love of GOD and our desire to reflect HIM through ourselves to others...else other Floyd's will arise and Black Lives will not matter to some because...'see how they act; they don't deserve fair treatment and opportunity". Unfortunately no mistake of hers warrants this thinking. She made a mistake publically but had no God shame about how to carry herself as a respectable woman(she acted "n"ishly with her cute self but nothing about her is cute anymore when you ignore GOD's blessings and talent and beauty to act like it didn't matter. No my brother I forgive her; she is just not attractive anymore. We have enough weak and feeble brothers out here without our future litigants acting thugish and unrefined. Sampson was stupid to give up his power but woe unto the men who allow themselves to fall for beauty that really isnt. She does not reflect the character of any role model nor lawyer who I would honor or esteem - she acts like the world and the few Sampson's out here need to recognize just as my mother always told me, "son everything the glitters aint gold" Pray for this sister that she will not tantalize we men in the eyes and the flesh but that she would become the next generation of Anna Cockrell's (substantive, talented, beautiful, dynamic activists walking in power and dignity; not some Jezebel. She is not Jezebel. just a woman who acts like a child expecting all to bend to her ways and means. She was dealt an unfortunate judgement and made an emotional mistake - that's all but how UGLY is her refinforcement of that Spirit by posting haugtily without shame. We don't need our men with those types. We need to be stronger and look upon with not with the eye but with the character and voice of our mothers and the GOD voice. Forget what you saw of her and just pray for her because she still has a precious soul that needs to heal.
