I'd love to see him go somewhere like Adams State and show up at invitationals to dust D1 studs.
And get a degree that you can’t use in the real world? Yeah makes sense .
Culpepper will NOT transfer to Adams State. Not in a million years. That said, those of us with degrees from Adams have done just fine. Thinking otherwise is a reflection of your own ignorance.
You have done fine but not the majority of its grads.
Just a wild thought...I don't think the Powells would pull a stunt like this (maybe their bosses might), but at the Pac-12s, Culpepper was wearing the Nike Dragonfly (Washington is a very well compensated adidas school--try $11 million/year) in his race, and didn't bother to spat/paint/disguise them.
Could UW have suspended him from NCAA regionals for that, and if so, was that the final straw of Culpepper putting himself in the portal (I'm assuming there was some other stuff going on behind the scenes beforehand)?
In most school shoe/apparel contracts, the school usually gets a deduction for every unexcused case of athletes wearing a competing brand in competition, depending on how hard-assed a company is.
The simple fact is that the Powell's haven't done anything but poach Oregon runners and then run them into the ground. Their teams scored a total of ONE POINT combined at indoors. Like a previous poster said, "A cat could have coached Ches to many titles". There's also a very athlete-centric system in Eugene, something the Powell's apparently didn't take with them. I don't know how long their contracts are for, but if UW is content with finishing 40th at NCAAs, then they may be around awhile. Cat's out of the bag.

The truly great coaches care about running fast AND leaving something for the future. The "great coach" at Niwot tries to get adult potential out of the athletes at 18 years of age. They leave nothing. Only one good Niwot athlete ever post-collegiately, who happened to NOT be coached by anyone on the Niwot staff. Smart move on the Cranny's part...

Not true, Cranny was coached by Henriques, who is very much on staff currently.

I do not think that is true. All of the kids that I have coached that went on to run in college have been allowed to wear whatever shoes they want.
They are just given a free pair of the sponsored brand. Normally one pair of trainers and one pair of spikes. If they want to wear another brand, they can, they just have to pay for them their selves.
You might be able to wear whatever you want in practice, but people definitely want you to wear your sponsored shoe brands in races

Some things are correct here. Powells just use Vin's system and beat the living shlt out of everyone. Some run well, some are destroyed. Having a bunch of numbers (like at Stanford or Oregon) helps disguise the method, but probably won't work so well at UW.
Not sure about the "athlete-centric" system in Eugene or what that even means. There's a very Robert Johnson centric system in Eugene, and that's about it.

Your kids probably didn't go to big D1 schools.
A lot of people on my team in college trained in Asics or Brooks or whatever but our coach, who was not a hard on by any stretch of the imagination, emphasized that we had to wear Nike stuff around at meets, on the award stand, etc. We could warm up in our normal shoes, but had have a pair of Nike trainers in the bag for awards. Less social media in those days though.
She quit on her team….for whatever the reason
If you run down the lists of widely agreed “goats” in other sports you’ll find they never quit mid-contest. Good or bad they finish.
She quit, ergo, not a true “goat”.

I am telling you that you are wrong. They can wear whatever spikes they want. The brand does not matter. Every kid I have talked to about it has said the same thing. They get free shoes/spikes if they want it, but they can wear whatever they want if they don't like the free ones.
Uhh yeah, college athlete here, you can wear whatever brand you want except at meets/for races. That has to be the schools brand, hence why people re-brand their shoes
What, a person cannot have more than one coach? I get where the response was coming from. Or, are you saying they were not coached at all by the Niwot staff?
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
