I'm around a lot of HS/MS kids, and constantly looking at the watch is not a problem - especially in races. Believe it or not, you can actually coach kids to use the GPS the same way you did.
nowhere did i say that GPS is "bad" for HS kids. calm down. if the kids can afford it, great, by all means. what i was trying to say is that there are a lot of other things kids could do to improve or get more out of running before dropping the coin on a garmin.
