I hope it is true, I went back to copy and paste the 3 places I saw that and ALL 3 were deleted. I hope she goes for a crazy fast time in the 10000 she is capable of it, Gudaf Tsegay is running the 5000 and she has been running very fast this year 3:53 for 1500
I was responding to this post.

Wow, amazing if true. I've always thought both her and Hassan have the world record in their legs, so I'm really eager to see what Gidey can truly do. Obviously, her current PB is way, way slower than what she's actually capable of.
I mean this post
Getaneh Molla in the 10000m! Haven't seen much from him since a stellar 2:03:34 debut some years ago, still the fastest debut ever unless my recent memory fails me.
is genzebe Dibaba running the 1500 or 5k?

Well the 5k and 10k double is more than doable (5k day 1 and 4, 10k day 8). I know Ethiopia doesn't like to double athletes, but they need to make certain exceptions. They let Dibaba double in 2015 (1500m/5k). She set a WR that year at 1500m, well Gidey and Tsegay have run WR's recently. There's no reason Gidey and Tsegay should not be doing the 5k/10k double.
Also why not have the 10k trials separate? This can't be top 3 and go right? Are you kidding me. If Gebrehewit, Barega, or Kijecha has a bad race they can't try for the 5k team? I could easily see Tola beating one of them. He's a 10k/HM guy. Their PR's are 12:45, 12:43, and 12:46, faster than Edris and T Bekele. I didn't expect all 3 of them to commit to the 10k in the first place. Gebrehewit has always been a better 5k runner (3 medals), Barega just ran 7:26i, and Kijelcha is the i-mile WR who was jogging wins in the DL 5k's last year.
But back to Dibaba, she has not been running well this year, but her best shot is easily, by far the 1500m.
I just looked at the DL Florence entries. This meet is on the 10th 2 days after Hengelo. Edris, Barega, Gebrehewit are entered (interesting no Kijelcha, I guess he's all in on the 10k). Maybe the trials is top 2 and their taking the fastest time. That means this Florence 5k might be fast. I'm excited as Cheptagai, Ahmed, Ingebrigsten, McSweyn, Balew, Crippa, Knight, Katir, Iguider are all in it. The field almost look to good for me, too good to be true.
Also T Bekele (3rd in Doha). 10 of the 14 finishers from Doha in this race. Of which Chelimo/Mead have the trials soon.
Of course, Gidey wins the 10. Gemechu and Yehualaw may fill the top 3?

Kind of surprising if Barega, Kejelcha, and Gebrhiwet are all in fact foregoing the 5k in favor of the 10k.
Not really - 10000 is the premier distance to win for an Ethiopian who's out for legend status at home - it's the one distance more than any other they think is "theirs" (kinda like the Kenyans think about the 3000 meter steeple).
Has Nike paid off the Ethiopians so the US can medal?
Wale to the 5k, not steeple? Huge benefit to Jager.
Tsegay to the 5k where she'll have to face Hassan? HUGE benefit to the Purrier/Houlihan.
Let's be honest, is Tsegay, Hassan and Kipyegon run the 1500, no one else is medalling.
No one allowed to do the 10k/5k double? Is that a joke? Not that an American is going to medal in these events but it totally waters down the field.
Our SPORT is a joke. I want the best of the best in every event at the Olympics. I don't want someone winning a medal when they are the 6th best person in an event.
These entries piss me off and remind me how bad our sport is managed. You can't do the 5/10 double?
I also want the best doubling and the schedule is hard to do itl
Galen Rupp?
Oh fun another unhinged uninformed nonsensical RoJoke rant.
Everyone associated with this clown should be embarrassed.
Hot rumor is that Tsegay may be going for 5000 WR.
ANother rumor is they may go for 10k WR. I hope both fall and then hear the excuses as to why the shoes don't matter.

Where have you been the last year that you think Jager is in the medal hunt?

Jager is not gonna medal this time. To be honest, I don't even think he is gonna be the best American .
