your name is very fitting

wow, thanks for posting the video of the race. She ran like a boss.
Fitting because Tuohy is an Irish name which means "ruler." So I guess she ran like herself.
Last month Laura Muir proved that it is possible to run away from everyone in the 1500, even at a world-class level. But in the short term (next year) I'm sure Tuohy will go to work on her finishing speed.

Ah yes, last month, the month of April when the world class competitors and medal contenders are peaking for Tokyo in late July.

Isn’t this girl significantly slower than she was in high school?
Haven’t we all seen this type of thing before?
Am I missing something?
Yes you are missing something
Katelyn despite being a high school running phenom with dozens of "she will not run faster than her hs times and she will fade when she gets older" comments from ppl,
has been developing quite well at a college level
Katelyn now runs fasters than her HS times
post knee surgery and just started racing collegiately just 3 months ago
already has impressive results in cross country and track
and is showing improvements each race
She looks great. I don't think anybody ever envisioned 1500 as her best event. We are all talking about her developing her speed to help finish this race, and im sure she will, but she is racing the 1500 to develop her speed for the 5, 10, and cross. What she is doing is going to be great for her development, whether or not she ever develops the tools to be a 4:00 type 1500 runner.

am i the only person thinking katelyn tuohy wont run 10000m in college? i just dont see it happening even if she gets faster or stronger, i dont think she wants to run 10k in college
1500m, 1mile, dmr, 3000m, 5000m and XC
I think those will be her only events in college
I did and I think others did also. She is more muscular than long distance runners which makes the 1500 ideal for her.
Why is it that 4:30 mile pace does not excite me? Let alone someone describing it as a groundbreaking accomplishment makes it feel less exciting.

how you feel about it depends on who you support
for most of us in this thread, it is exciting, because the running community has thrown so many negative comments about katelyn tuohy not getting to that time, and yet here she is
there are 16 women this season that ran 4:30 mile pace in 1500m, 90% of them are graduate seniors, others juniors, and theres only ONE freshman that runs 4:30 mile pace, and that is Katelyn Tuohy (still a teenager) she had a knee surgery last year and only started racing collegiately just 3 months ago
given her circumstances, her results are impressive, and she has a chance to even improve more on saturday
Two things!
I thought Adidas had comprable stuff to nike? Are Nike Spikes really faster?
Also what happened to grabbing the rail and working on that Scooch down move? Hopefully for the finals
Any chance you could post the other 1500 m prelims , got see what the competition is up to

I think she needs to make sure her heat is pretty fast
She's 19.
Just because she is a freshman is more an issue for her parents than athletics.
Too much fangirl here. Its unhealthy.
Just enjoy her progress or not. There is no need at all to defend opinions. everyone has one.
And Freshman (or should I say first year with a nod to PSU) Taryn Parks continues to maintain a quiet presence.
I wish my FR year I was qualifying for the Final in the East Region. I didn't do that until my JR/SR years.
with Tyynismaa in her heat, I have no doubt it will be quick. She seems eager to run hard.

Same thoughts.. I expect them to run sub 4:10 if tyynismaa pushes hard
only recorded her heat.. but you can find the full replay on youtube

taryn parks finished 17th in the acc and has 4:20 pb from yesterday.. i dont think she'll be able to be in the lead pack in the finals when tyynismaa pushes it to a 4:10, at least 5 can run 4:12 in that second heat finals
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
