I recently bought a pair of allbirds casual shoes to wear to the office. I then go a pair of their regular running sneakers but haven't tried them out yet as I've been not running for the last month due to some knee problems. As I learned about the brand, I knew they were working on shoe they'd co-produce with adidas. Well that shoe is here - the Futurecraft.Footprint .
I've got to admit, it's not exactly what I was hoping for.
1) The good news. It's CO2 footprint of 2.94 kg (6.5 lbs) is about 1/5th of a normal shoes 30 lbs. So instead of eating the equivalent of 3.5 big macs when you put on your shoes, you'll now be doing the equivalent of about 3/4th of a big mac.
2) The bad news. It's totally white. Who in the heck wants to wear a totally white running shoe?
The whole reason why I bought a pair of the all-black allbird running shoe is that I am trying to find a single shoe i can run in and also wear to the office.
