You could make similar arguments about many vaccines. I mean, who dies of chicken pox? What percent of people are saved by the HPV shot?
And of course you're all: "OPEN THE SCHOOLS!!"
but
"DONT DO ANYTHING TO HELP OPEN THE SCHOOLS!!!"
amusing how you antivaxxers think.
Vaccinating kids for this is absolutely unnecessary. Every teacher that wanted to be vaccinated at this point has had access to a vaccine. Every grandparent that wanted to be vaccinated at this point has had access to a vaccine. Every sick fattie that wanted to be vaccinated at this point has had access to a vaccine. If the vaccines work, then there is no need to vaccinate the kids. The death rate for those under 25 and the hospitalization rate for those under 25 are almost unchanged from previous years. This is not a risk to kids, and their teachers, coaches, parents and grandparents are free to get a vaccine, wear a mask, etc. if that is their choosing. Vaccines have been offered to the vulnerable populations and are readily available for all who want them, masks are effective and there is an excess of supply (places like Walmart are discounting masks in order to get rid of their over supply of masks), and hand sanitizer is available in every store. Stop asking others to incur medical treatments in order to appease your sense of security.

Kids under 18 make up 22.3% of the population, but make up 1.6% of COVID related hospitalizations and 0.04% of COVID related deaths. Hospitalizations and deaths for those under 18 are comparable to a typical flu season.
