It has been speculated that many yung people have dropped out of society.
Failed? Everyone is being promoted with little effort.
Very true
Just tell your proff you identify as a straight A student and let them know they will have to update your transcript for the sake of equality
It was evident since day one of "remote school" that this would just accelerate the inevitable.
Those who were on top of things, and driven, would do fine.
Those who weren't going to quite succeed would just get to that point quicker.
You may or may not have noticed that this "remote" thing doesn't just apply to schools. It happened to a lot of the work world, too. There, though, all we saw was evidence that some forgot to put on pants, have dogs or cats, don't know how to turn off mute, etc. We didn't have a wave of working folks completely fail to do their jobs. Everyone adapted.
Meanwhile, an entire generation of people raised with screens in front of their faces didn't all manage to use those screens to "do" school. My bet is they couldn't figure out time management, or couldn't learn how to apply themselves, or be disciplined, and they failed.
I was one of the people who wasn't motivated first semester. It took me a while to climb out of the hole but I barely managed Bs and Cs straight across from Ds and Fs. I will say it is a bit overwhelming, when I fell behind (from not paying attention, watching videos, etc.) there was a crushing amount of work and stress from all my different classes which was at a point, insurmountable. This was the most stressed I had been in my life, and every time I would log into class I felt like a very stupid person. This sense of dread and failure pushed me to avoid as much work as possible, and avoid the demoralizing classes and tests. The only thing that motivated me to push through to the end was when other people motivated me to finish it. My dad told me "Every time you have tried in a class, you get no less than an A." It was this which allowed me to turn my 26% in Calculus to a 75% by the end of the semester (not a good grade, but good enough).
I wonder what this means for the economy.

Most of the failed people were already replaced by automation or will be.
The rich seem to be getting richer, but honestly they are really just being outnumbered.
