I disagree.

Was she wearing Nike's new magic shoes?
There is no woman in the world in any sport who can compete with the best 16 year old boy. In some events boys as young as 13 will be better than every woman in history.
The best Women's soccer teams in the world will get totally dominated by the best team of 13 year olds. Testosterone is only part of the reason why males dominate in every sport. They also have much better power to weight ratio, less body fat %, are generally larger with denser bones and even on average have much better spatial awareness. The result is better performance with reduced injury risk.
Giday ran 14:06 to break the world 5000M record. That is the same as the age 15 best by a boy. The age 16 best is 13:35 by Jakob Ingebrigsten which is an impossibility for any woman who is not drug-enhanced or transgender.
The reason that there are women's categories in sport is so they can compete and have a chance of winning. The best female in most athletics events would be ranked around 10,000 to 20,000 if they were male. The advantages go well beyond hormone levels which are obvious when you look at any athlete who has gone through puberty.
While you can make the argument that there are so few transgender athletes that it really does not matter. It obviously will matter a lot for those athletes who have to compete with them in their events.
I just don’t understand how this is not an open and shut case. Obviously this guy has an advantage over the women he is competing against. I know Republicans and Democrats disagree about almost everything in this day and age but this seems like such a bipartisan issue.
Is there really a large portion of this country (40% or more) and/or world that can look at this specific situation and say “I don’t see any problem with this”.
Serious question - is there anything to prevent Juniper Eastwood (MT) from competing in US Olympic trials? Personally, I think Juniper would be a shoe-in to make the team IF SHE FOCUSES ON THE STEEPLE.
Thoughts?
The polices regarding transgender athletes for all levels of sports are already in place and the Democrats are not disagreeing with anything. It's currently only an issue for the right.
The U.S. has nothing to do with the policies of New Zealand and the IOC.

I'm as open minded, liberal, and pro-equality as you can get. I know a trans person, I think they should have the right to a happy and judgement free life.
Cant imagine being born feeling like I was the wrong gender. It must be so hard and terrible and confusing and painful at times along the way.
But this is different, and I only think serious athletes get it. It's not fair to the biological women who train their whole lives to reach the highest level. It sucks and it must suck for any Male who transitions to female because in their heart that's who they are, but they have an unfair advantage just like anyone using PEDs.
Hope she has a great rest of her life being herself. But she shouldn't be allowed to compete as a woman. =/
It’s very clear you 1) aren’t liberal and 2) didn’t read the article
Lol the policies are anything but set in stone they are evolving - the ioc has issued a notice they will officially unveil their new policies on transgender athletes after the games. Even if they were, set in stone, that doesn't mean they are not up for debate with regards to their utility. There is no scientific evidence that a man loses enough of their strength, speed or other athletic traits after 1 year of feminizing hormone therapy, yet it's their policy that any biological man can compete in the female after 1 year of hormonal therapy. Very strange policy that I am sure will change as these examples continue to pop up.

Your statement is false: some prominent feminists (who are usually on the left), J.K. Rowling among them, have challenged some of the claims of the trans-advocates (who are usually on the left). She wrote that there is a word for humans that menstruate - and it is "women." The trans-advocates claim that men menstruate, trying to establish a bizarre taxonomy.
"Rednecks" isn't a judgmental and racist term?
Hey, I'm proud to have a little sunburn on the back of my neck. It's means I have been getting off my ass and outside, exercising in the fresh air, logging some miles , and putting the gardens in order so I can enjoy some fresh vegetables later this summer. All better than being a know nothing city slicker. So, call me a Redneck, just don't call me late for dinner.
What an embarrassment for new Zealand. It makes me think they are so hard up for medal prospects and have such a disorganised country that they can't protect their own wonens' sports.
Hubbard is not only trans, their family is involved in the Admin of the sport in NZ and the whole family has ridden roughshod over the previous rules in place to protect womens' sport there for their own benefit.
The entire family display recurring narcissistic/sociopathic traits of non personal adherence to rules while simultaneously appealing to the use of new rules to benefit them l. They also display an unusual liking for media attention but only when they can control and dictate that fame to show themselves in a good light.
Personally, I think this has a lot more to do with their quest for dane/acclaim and personality disorders than any particular sexual identity - the sexual identity claimed is simply a convenient mechanism for achieving the former and presenting themselves as the victim, rather than the aggressor/cheat that they really are.
This usually goes alongside extensive use of lawyers to silence detractors and threaten legal action against anyone disagreeing with them. The cost of risking a legal defence is for most people too expensive so they back dien and go away.
Good for her, she's very brave and is an inspiration.
To the OP and those who posted negative comments. She doesn't just identify as a woman. She has TRANSITION, so by definition she IS a woman.

Can you point me to the literature (or better RCT) on that?
She's transitioned. Her testosterone level is the same as (or lower than) an average woman, and so far there haven't been any studies proving that going through puberty as a male is an advantage either.
I'd be asking for my money back if I was them then...

I doubt it's that.
New Zealand are probably the strongest overall sporting nation on the planet per capita.
I would imagine that the majority of the governing bodies would prefer her not to be selected but it's very difficult when lawyers are introduced and rules are being followed as they currently stand. They can't just change the rules at the drop of a hat without causing issues.

So you don't know but just jump to conclusions because it matches your world view? How good should a male junior record holder be as a tranwoman a couple decades later?
Irrelevant

What has this got to do with Democrats? If I were in US I would be to the left of most Democrat policies. You are talking about woke noise, which most people like me don't agree with

It is a common thing to feel like " I should have been a woman, or I should have been a man instead"....just as common as many other mental issues.
Doesn't make him a woman, but a cheat. I cheat on his biology, a cheat against real women , i.e. XX women
This rubbish will one day end badly for society.
