It's one of the worst conferences in the nation. Hofstra only brought 4 athletes to the meet.

The truth is Forest is an excellent coach.
This thread is dumb.

As an alumni I want to know why they are getting worse every year.
It would be better if you wanted to know why you were graduated from the institution without (apparently) knowing the difference between "alumni" and "alumnus."
While you're sorting that out, you might as well learn to spell "abysmal" correctly.
Forest Braden doesn't coach the women, Scott Jones does.

I know exactly who Forest coaches. If you read some of the posts above some lovelies are trashing him anyway.
cheers!
Why not call the teams that list to them abysmal?

Right well then you & I are on the same page & Braden isn't the one who should get the blame. Nobody seems to call out the coach who is actually doing a poor job

Because the teams that lost to them are historically not that good. W&M on the other hand is historically a very good team but has been going backwards. They could jog and still beat a few CAA teams but they should also be doing much better than they are

Yeah they already clearly have issues with their team, encouraging eating disorders and forced weigh-ins isn't a funny suggestion
A couple things. Scott Jones can coach, he just doesn’t seem to know how to recruit well. The kids that were there when he took over ran fairly well.
At around the same time, Kevin Jermyn took over at Elon, and has done a phenomenal job recruiting and developing the team. They had a few solid individuals before but has hit the international jackpot along with solid American development and is now the dominant team.
Can Jones coach? Because it seems like he's getting decent recruits (~5:05 girls, 17:50-18:10 girls. Pretty solid for high school.) and they're not developing into D1 runners. Everyone seems to get injured and burned out. Now they don't even have a single sub- 17 girl, they can't score in the 10k, and what happened to the decent 800m girls they had last indoor? I don't think you can claim he can coach when something is clearly not working
Program success comes and goes in varying amounts. Oregon was not a top destination like it once was before Rupp, Acosta, Wheating, Centro etc started turning it up. Not saying they were bad, but far from the early Dillinger years. Hell, my alma mater (Maryland) won something like 30 ACC track team titles and I believe Ronaldo Nehamiah still has the 110HH record in the NCAA. Now they usually only have a handful of athletes who make noise on a national level. It happens. Especially at an academic school like WM.
and the hofstra men beat the w&m runners in ther 5k and 10k lol
Didn't Chris Solinsky coach at W&M for a few seasons? What happened with that ?
They are a shell of the program they used to be. Their women won regionals in XC not too long ago. Downward spiral since.

Even worse, they only have one runner under 18 minutes.
Jones is 25% to blame but Braden is 75% to blame. Braden is head cross country coach of both the men and the women. Jones is his employee. If Jones isn't getting the job done, Braden needs to step in and fix it.

Braden isn't stepping in to fix it because it's a boys club over there. They all support each other in the downfall of a great program. I would be interested to see how the athletes feel about the team atmosphere. No way the coach hasn't messed up somehow and in a big way. If I were a recruit, there is no way I would go there after seeing how far they have fallen

Pancake penny said it perfectly. It seems like the coaches won't take any responsibility for the performances & nothing will be done. I'm sure having the men's program on the chopping block makes all the coaches defensive of each other, but now it's hurting the athletes.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
