Espn, along with Major League Baseball, has already been in contact with umpires for today's playoff game insuring it will go 13 innings.
Mark Shapiro (who is leaving espn to run Dan Snyder's new Six Flags entertainment park company) stated that this tactic has worked very well in the past. "We always try to schedule any programming related to running directly after a live sporting event. We then insure that sporting event goes well past the allotted time. This boosts our viewer numbers and results in more ad income for the company."
Because of the second playoff game tonight starting at 8 p.m. and our agreements with Major League Baseball, "4 minutes" has been rescheduled for 2 A.M eastern time zone and 5 A.M. western time zone.
