The real question is why he would risk the extra drug tests. NFL testing is a joke.

He’s gonna get smoked obviously but his start should be interesting.
Remember Tyreek Hill only got 5th in the 200m in his lone year of D1 track
There are plenty of guys in the NFL that can fly. There are not as many top sprinters that can play in the NFL. Trindon Holiday flashed in the NFL, but did not last long. The Broncos picked up Kary Vincent Jr. in the late rounds of the draft (all American sprinter from LSU who ran 10.07 wind aided). Will be interesting to see how he performs.
Better prospect is Anthony Schwartz (Auburn). World junior silver medalist at 100, 3rd rd pick. Mostert to me might be the track star who uses that speed the best. He has the two fastest mph runs recorded I believe. When he gets moving it’s different, he just dusts people.

He'll be looking down the track at the real sprinters wondering what he got himself into.
Regardless of his time, should he be hired as a consultant on relay handoffs?
Would team USA medal more frequently in the 4x100 with a few football players to get the baton around during the heats?

If we want relays to be better we need the athletes to train handoffs more. You can get away with slower people running as fast or faster just off handoffs. Maybe we should have relays tryouts at us champs and the Olympic Trials. Let athletes set up teams to compete and either choose the people who had the best handoffs or the winning team. Some athletes are fast but just bad at relays.
I mean the USA swept the relays last time out at Worlds. But yes, it's usually a disaster on the men's side.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned John Ross' speed? He smoked the NFL combine. Did he run track at Washington?
The problem is DK isn’t even quick by nfl standards. He’s fast but his short area quickness was worse than tom Brady’s at the combine. It’s why he went from a top ten pick to a second rounder. Do he will get absolutely left in the blocks. He’ll be behind from the word go and that’ll be it. I think he has 10.4 speed but the more I think about it I’m probably going more with auto here.
I would like to see Jonathan Taylor do some 100m races as well.
This is false! The real reason his draft stock dropped was mainly due to his serious college neck injury ,and the belief that is his route tree was too limited. Many scouts believed he was too bulky and stiff to get in and out of breaks, and all he could run were go routes down the field.

I am aware his agility isn't that great, but what do you his short area quickness is bad, didn't he have the fastest 10yd split in the combine.
Good grief, what a thread.
I used to train with similar guys 25 years ago. He will do nothing of consequence. His actual time won’t matter.
I know nothing about this guy specifically, but guys who think they’re fast tend to run 10.7-10.9 after doing what they consider to be training.
Hill, otoh, could actually be fast.
But yeah, everybody should try their hand at a FAT 100m, why not? It is exceedingly difficult to stop at only one, so IMO it’s likely that we see him at least one more time if he stays uninjured.
Great to see him doing this👍👍👍👍👍👍

It's a no lose situation for USATF. Just think of how many possible people who normally would not watch this weekend will watch just because of an NFL star like DK is competing. You can't get a better endorsement than that. Will be a stunner if he can make the trials though.

Agreed Sprintgeezer - a lot of unknowns, but good for the sports visibility!
My prediction - 10.59
It’s too bad more guys don’t do this. For many of them, it’s because they know they’re too slow, but who really cares? Also, this can be the lazy season for them, in terms of sprint-type work.
The best football guys do tend to test themselves at some point, because they are super-competitive. Too bad we never see NBA equivalents in the jumps! Lazy NBA bums😁
Could you imagine what Matt London would do to this guy in a 10 yard race? It would be an epic showdown.
But in all seriousness, I feel Sprintgeezer has it right, and DK is going to run about a 10.8 and be left behind at the blocks.
Hopefully he gets under Florence G Joyner’s 10.49 mark
Any betting odds on this? Vegas could make a killing with all the football fans who think he'll win.....

Absolutely! There was a time when people around here wanted me to race Michael Bennett. He was heavier, I was older and living an actual life. I was pretty sure he would win, but everybody thought he was a shoe-in for 10-flat.😂
We never did get around to it, but he was more than decent, even NFL-heavy. 4.13 in the 40
