A lot of females in media, healthcare, and other corporate roles have a leg up over males because of it. More doors open to them easily. Even if they do work hard (and I know they do), it's still easier for them to get these comfy roles that men (whites and non-whites) and women of other races don't get.
People act like white females had rights that were the equivalent to white men all this time, but the truth is that we got the right to vote the same day as women of color. Now, everything is for women of color. Every selection HAS to be a woman of color.
I really don't see your female white privilege argument. Seems like it jumped from centuries of white men straight to women of color. White women and black men are out.
I think Kara comes off as personable, and the fact that she became a mom while she was a pro runner allows her to lend that perspective. I would much rather hear a former elite runner commentate on running than some armchair expert. I think she will do a great job.
