No doubt about if she focus strictly on the 800m/1500m double.. First season Athing will run sub 4:05 and second season if conservative she will go sub 4 minutes.
Mu has a 4:33 1500 from 2017. This is most likely from AAU in the summer right after her freshman year. She also has a 18:30 5k XC time on a difficult course inNJ. This also appears to be AAU since she didn’t run for her high school. That’s quite a range and I doubt she ran very much mileage. Definitely has potential in the 1500 in the future if she makes that a goal.
.....
Thank you!

There are so many believers in fairy tales on these threads.

16 women broke 4 minutes last year. Wake me up when she goes under 3.55.

Just to clarify my comments, I see the 1500 as something Mu might aim for in 2028. For 2024, I see it as overdistance work to gain more strength for the 800. Not enough time to be competitive in the 1500 by next year.
If Bobby has already altered Athing's training even slightly to accommodate a 1500m on the national level, then certainly she could make the 1500m team in 2024. Her chance at Gold in a very fast Olympic 1500m race...slim in my opinion; however, I dio think she could place top 7. Athing's 800m would greatly benefit from 1500m training and definitely take the American Record sub 1:55.

You're not very bright.
Athing MU is NOT training for the 1500, and Bobby Kersee does NOT think she can win an Olympic gold medal in the 1500.
Bobby Kersee has a big mouth and he likes to say wacky things just to see his name in the news.

You are absolutely right!
Like those who believe in such fairy tales that say that anyone faster than some NZ rando from 50 years ago is a doper.

No one says that. But it is a safe conclusion that many a top runner today is doping. Read the Rhonex Kipruto thread. However to suggest that Mu - a 4.37 miler - can succeed over the 1500 is pure fantasy.

One thing that many posters are ignoring is that there are A LOT more miles needed to be run when training for the 1500 than the type of training Athing Mu is used to when she was doing mostly speed based training as a 400/800 runner at Texas A&M.
Even if Mu had the talent to be an Olympic gold medalist in the 1500 (which she doesn't) there is no way she's willing to run a huge amount of miles in training.

.....YEAH I TOLD THE NON BELIEVERS and I was firm in my expectations of her ability. She isn't done in the 400, 800, or 1500m ..expect sub 49.25, 800m WR, sub 3:55 personal best before she retires.
I told everyone that shecsn easily break 4 and the Tuohy fans said that Tuohy was much better at 1500 than Mu. Those knuckleheads put down Mu's 800 gold as a youngster as not great because they claimed that distance runners mature. Well mow Mu is a great young 1500 runner.

lol
Depends what your definition of success is. 3:49 says 4:03 is about the length of the straight behind.
Shut up she has run only USA and her 4:03:pb was WAY BELOW what many of you thought she was capable. Her personal best won't stay 4:03 long is she runs another 1500 and it's fast.
Heck she trains at 61 second pace for 1500m, see her post i1500m FINAL interview. That's around 3:54-3:55 pace
My bad heck 61 second pace is 4:04 to 4:06 for a mile and 3:45 range for 1500m. She may train at that place but surely she don't maintain it longer than 1000-1100m.
