I heard from a well known source they did a tempo run suggesting they’re ready for sub 13!

Lots of scratches, including all the Stanford guys.
Current (as of Thursday afternoon) weather forecast for Friday 9pm in Eugene is 53 deg, no rain, 5 mph wind . . . Payton Jordan conditions, under the lights, in a cathedral of a track stadium . . . other than having more fans, perfect set-up for a really fast race.

I would agree none of the guys in this race will go sub 13:10. Don't think they are on Klecker-level in this event. If you're Klecker-level you're approaching top 10 in the world.
Klecker is NOT top
10 in the world. Granted he maybe now but the rest of the world have not had fast 5000m outdoors races yet it’s April
Looks like the conditions are optimal 5k weather for tonight’s elite section.
How many will go at or under 13:13.50 tonight?
Cole SHOCKER and copper are about to throw down something nasty

heh? That's why I said "approaching" top 10 level. During the entire year of 2020 & all of this year so far only 11 guys ran faster than the 13:06 by Klecker. That would be "approaching" top 10 in the world.
this is the real question and honestly i would probably say someone at the oregon meet will run the fastest time. I'll say cooper runs 13:15ish. Drake relays winner within 5 seconds of that (probably McDonald?).

Huh? There are 10-20 guys in kenya and 10 -20 guys in ethiopia that are better than Joe klecker at this very moment.
And there are only like a few people in the history of the entire world that are better than Hocker and Teare at the indoor mile.
Anybody realize that Kurgat and Kiptoo go to college 20 minutes from Drake?

Also, look at the last few years. There are absolutely no more than 5 Kenyans faster and no more than 5 Ethiopians faster than Klecker. Something like this may have been the case (with a top 5 US guy) when US running was poorer and had maybe one guy under 13:20, but no longer. Klecker is world class.

Well, McDonald is faster but I think Teare will beat them both.

What are the chances Hocker breaks Nico's U20 record? It would be crazy if it was broken on the same night.

Not eligible unfortunately. He turns 20 this year

Ah, ok. For some reason I was thinking he was the same year as Nico. The lost covid season has messed with my perceptions of chronology.
