High school senior here. Run the 800 and 1600. I'm just shy of 5'11 and just over 150 depending on the day. I work twice a week in the gym and have put on a decent amount of muscle since junior year. I'm not bulky by any means, but I'm no longer the stick that I used to be.
I think getting to around 145 would be a good weight. Just don't know how to go about it. I run around 35-45 mpw, and don't want to go any higher because I'll most likely get injured. I cross train a couple times a week, try to eat and sleep well.
I don't want to cut out the lifting because I think it is improving my running a good amount. But maybe some of the upper body stuff I could cut. I'm not necessarily needing to lose weight, obviously running fast is the priority regardless of what weight I am, but dropping a couple pounds wouldn't hurt.
So is the best way to go about this eating less, training more, or changing what I eat? a combination? how do I go about eating less and still recovering properly during this time of the high school season?
