These numbers are public record and I was shocked to see what my local store received from PPP. I live in Holland Michigan and our local store received $1.7 million.

It is a loan, bro.
Mine took a bunch, and both owners got new cars

You don’t have to pay it back.
It’s free money.
Unless they are currently paying over $100k a year to all employees they are gauging.
If this is Gazelle, I guarantee they are gauging.
and this is why we shouldn't want the government in charge of things.
there have been people in need for the past 13 months. but i'd say 80% of the stimulus money has been ridiculously misdirected.
And what group pushed for the money to go to individuals and what group pushed for it to go to programs

Do you mean gouging? Not sure what gauging is.
They were gauging how much money they could scam the system for in order to gouge the people.
$150-350K. They have 5 locations and I believe just kept the full time employees on. The had managers doing free delivery for orders while the stores were officially closed.
$1.8 mil to the large local running chain, $267k to the smaller one. There's another large chain in the area but can't figure out their official corporate name or owner.
What are the conditions for keeping all of the free money? Do you have to keep all of your employees at full pay or just some of them? Do you have to show any actual losses?

At least with the first loan, the environmental group of which I'm treasurer had to show that it spent the money on employee wages during a certain period, which is something the government can check with tax withholding information. I think some overhead like office utilities could be included too, but that amount was minor compared to wages.

Based on the time periods covered for calculating the loan and for calculating the forgiveness, you could easily get it all forgiven. About 10 weeks of free payroll. No losses necessary. Round 2 was different as you needed to show some kind of financial hardship (don’t remember exactly what since we didn’t qualify).
It’s not free money if you’ve likely paid it in taxes at some point. It’s just money the government has decided it can spare to give back to you because it didn’t completely waste it on bailing out some mega-corporation for absolutely f*cking the middle and lower class.

What's the name of the store? I just went to
https://www.federalpay.org/paycheck-protection-program/mi/500to look for it and there was nothing in the $1 mil - $2 mil range that looked like an athletic apparel or running shoe store. Would love to share your indignation but I'm not seeing a basis for doing so yet. Can you share a link to this info? Thanks!

way too much money has gone to both of those groups. what happened initially is somewhat excusable. There was enough time to come up with a better plan for the second and third rounds.
