You're aware that we aren't cars, right? To the extent that masks make any difference, it's mostly just a heat/comfort thing.
Just found the guy who doesn't run anymore....and who definitely doesn't race anymore.....
If you do run, put a mask on and go to your local track and try to blast a pr....at any distance 400m and up.....
The board will be waiting for your apology.
I've been running HS practices since Nov, and I can tell you that masks DO inhibit breathing and they are not simply a "heat/comfort" thing.

I saw the thread yesterday and hadn't picked up that it is in "Live free or die" NH.
Poor coach. AD are idiots. I see a kid having a panic attack during the race.

You have no points. Putting a seatbelt on to drive 2 blocks doesn’t do physical harm. Wearing a mask during an intense race does.
Do YouEnjoyRacing without a mask on?
Simple solution. Buy a mask that breathes. No race official is ever going to check your mask to see if it is thick enough or actually blocks the coronavirus.
I did a little research and bought my high school son a mask that come with several disposable filters. We just don't put the filters in the mask, then the mask is basically porous and easy to breathe through. You can see right through it if you hold the mask up to the light. Other the fact that you have something annoying on your face, the mask doesn't interfere with your breathing.
He wears a regular protective mask to school, but when he runs a race, he wears a breathable mask. Does it protect him from Covid? No, but who cares while he's racing.

Too bad this coach got fired, as it’s really focking stupid to even jog with a mask on, let alone race. I would refuse to run at all with a mask on, which we fortunately don’t have to do where I live. At the same time, last organised meet that I can remember was in late-September.
Donated. Thanks for pointing this in my direction.
Chinese virus? Please just stop calling it this!
He deserves to be fired. Their top boy runner in 2019 ran a 2:32 800m and their top miler only ran a 5:47. Coach deserves to be fired because he sucks and the team sucks. Poor guy trying to get his garbage runners some help so they don’t get lapped every race.

"Gestapo-level mask requirements", really? So the coach and his entire family were picked up by the secret police and then transported to a prison where they were thrown into large ovens and burnt to death? Wow. I didn't even know this sort of thing was going on. The US is burning people to death because they won't wear masks. Crazy. Any photos?
Although, when you think about it - given the choice between being burned to death with their entire family, why wouldn't they just wear a mask? Do they think their god will punish them and they will spend eternity in hell if they wear a mask? So insane to hear the US is doing this to their citizens.

Nah, homie, that’s straight up fearmongering.
Requiring young athletes to wear masks against their will is not freedom, and they are given a choice to either A) compete with a mask or B) not compete with a mask, but should not be punished because competing with a mask makes it difficult to breath, and they have chosen not to wear one. They know that they *gasp* might be exposed to COVID at 17 years of age as a well conditioned athlete, but they have weighed the pros and cons and elected to not wear a mask.
The government does not deserve to be overly involved in our lives, and yes, you read to me like a character out of 1984.

Coach is at the do what yer fing told level. Maybe next time he'll leave it to the director or principal. How does his stand help the team? Coach is just another self righteous loser.
And on another note, threads like this don't elevate the running community. As someone that used to lead a running club, i don't see people recreating and being divided by mask wearing, just a few aholes needing something to complain about. If people want to complain about rights, there are bigger fish to fry; like internet privacy laws .. how do you think let's run makes money?
Imagine thinking you are a martyr because you threw a childish tantrum instead of being a leader.
Fire the arrogance son of a b**** He's got a job to do and he has to listen to his boss
Are you mask lovers going to be defending these mandates next year? The year after? Government tyrants never want this to end. Resist now of gtfo.
Hate mongers celebrating hate.
It's like those old Superman Bizarro comics. "Me hate fascists, make me wear mask! I get even with them - me die of Covid! Me win!"
