Any coaches measure this course? It seems short because so many ran so fast. Or is it just fast?

it was this fast last year too.
Yo man the course isnt short. Mationals has been run ther 2 or three times. they know what the hell they are doing. it was just rock solid and stiff comp.
Nationals are 10k so not the same course as Paul Short.
Paul Short is not a shourt course. Lots of fast runners going hard.
you guys are kidding yourselves. that course is notoriously short.
Let me guess, all of you ran a pr there?
well i know the times are always very fast here (including HS 5k) the college guys always seem to fly and HS guys went very quick yesterday, and when they run a PA district meet there the guys always go very quick, but once they get to the state meet they come back to earth....A LOT!!!
Off the subject a little, but does anyone know where to find full set of results? The "official" Paul Short web site seems to be down / unavailable. Thanks
I was there and the course itself is very well groomed and not the toughest course either, so it's possible for someone to run a fast time but it's a little suspicious that most of the field ran a fast time.

It is cross country. Who cares what the distance is. You are running for place. Anybody that keeps track of PR's for Cross Country does not understand the sport. Times are only useful in comparing gaps between runners or time spreads on a team.
not nearly as short as notre dame.
temperatures were perfect for fast times as well. I ran a huge PR for 5k yesterday and id say weather is definitely a contributing factor as the heat and humidity in the northeast up until this week was gone.
yea, but why were the times sooo much faster than last year? IF you look at 100th place this year compared to last year...way faster, plus look at some of the individuals from last year and this year
Hey Einstein,
You know it is possible that individuals can improve a bit from year to year.
I ran in the meet, and it's just a fast course. It's all over short-cut grass on hard ground with basically no hills to speak of. It was a stacked field, perfect weather conditions, and everyone out there wanted to run a great time. An XC course doesn't necessarily have to be short to produce really fast times, it can just be an easy course, which this one was, and combined with great weather conditions and a bunch of solid runners the situation was right for some killer times. Also, I think the person who said XC is about competing more than times has a good point, it's impossible to compare times accounting for different courses, different conditions, etc. And to everyone who's still going to whine that it was a short course - quit b****ing and work harder, maybe then you'll run a PR too.
there was also a whole bunch more teams there this year, 44 i believe in the men's college race, last year i think there was only ~30
It was hot in 2004, that accounts for the faster times this year.

Are you D R Curran the famous organic chemist??
A Cross Country PR? This is the most meaningless thing I can think of. What place did you finish, that means something.
