Todays showing by Texas proved Floreals prowess as a powerhouse coach. Texas on paper has one of the most impressive teams out there. Its just about putting it all together. They have jumpers, sprinters, relays, distance guys. Its incredible what Edrick Floreal has built over there. I couldn't help be excited for the season. Once they get the season rolling i expect great things. And the crazy part is the full team hasnt even opened up yet. Its still some gems he has to put together but I definitely see both the men and women defending their conference titles
Floreal is flexing his muscles

Floreal was hired to win ncaa team championships.
He hasn't come remotely close to accomplishing that.
If his quest to win a ncaa team championship was equivalent to driving from LA to NYC, he might be in Winslow, Arizona right now. -
Thanks, for the insight. Texas is loaded right now with talent. But it’s all about hitting it on the three-five days that it actually matters in a season. If Texas is so quick to fire football and Basketball coaches with multi million dollar contracts. Purely because they aren’t top programs in the county. I don’t think the athletic department will be too keen with a Olympic sport that’s paying their head coach half a million to not bring home trophy’s. Clock is ticking for Floréal.

Too damn many pro athletes cluttering up the facilities.
Program seems to revolve aound making hard left political statements.
Their shot putter and German decathlete will have to score big for longhorns to finish top five. -
Hmmmm. SayWhat29 are you serious? Floreal has only been with Texas a few years and let's not forget there was no outdoor meets in 2020 due to Covid-19.

My comment above is meant for Sategna lite

deep eddy Coach Floreal was hired at Texas in 2018? So was he supposed to win the NCAA meet in 2018 or 2019? In 2 years? We both know 2020 was a year of no track and field. You guys are cracking me up! LOL

Exactly like idk of any coach who ever came in and made a immediate impact like that. The whole team has potential to be top 4 on both sides. Thats what Floreal had in mind all along. I was just looking and forget they have top hurdle recruits in both short and long hurdles. And we all know flow can coach some long hurdles look at the products that came through kentucky. Their jumps squad on the mens side is superior to any program in potential rn based on numbers or scorers. Their sprints are heavy on both sides. Distance is excellent too. -
Unfortunately for them, their shot putter (2019 NCAA Outdoor Champion) had a bad ankle injury and appears to be done for the season after a surgery.

Trip has that Texas fight spirit. I wouldn’t be surprised if shows up toward the end of the season given he has a shot at making the olympic team. He went to nationals on that injury and threw regardless of the result in immense pain -
Exactly QuarterMiller! This expectation of instant gratification is sickening. Coach Floreal and his staff are excellent so let's be fair and not petty and cruel.

Not judging him for not having won or gotten a podium yet. He did it at Kentucky but it took time. Texas is not as bad as Kentucky was though. He and his staff have built a strong team across all events in a short timespan. All I was saying was Texas is paying him a ton of cash and if he doesn’t produced they are not going to see the value in paying him that much. They’ll bring the same mentality they do to football and basketball coaches not getting it done. Especially if NCAA takes a step back from the spending spree it’s been on the past two decades.
