As was mentioned earlier by Hounde:
A cyclist should never ride against traffic, for many reasons.
1. Pedestrians aren’t. watching for vehicles coming from that direction;
2. It confuses and angers other riders who are riding in the correct direction;
3. You are legally a vehicle, and are therefore required to follow the rules of the road;
4. And, though it may not matter to you, it marks you as an ignorant, childish cyclist,
who clearly does not know what he/she is doing.
It's also illegal in many city, county, and states to ride a bicycle on a street or road against oncoming traffic. It would also be unwise to cycle the wrong direction in a bicycle lane when the majority of cyclists are riding with the traffic in the bicycle lane as is mandated in most city, county, and state guidelines.
