Who may be next and just miss out on the trip: winner of London last year or the man who was third in both majors last year; Tokyo and London?
I have Shura Kitata ahead of Sisay Lemma.
I had fourth and fifth placegetters here, so fourth and 5th women are next.

I have the next two women finishers in a tie for second and both making the Olympics. For the last two years I have ranked marathoners. After Tokyo last year I had these two even with Jemeli and couldn’t seperate the three. Since then Jemeli was ordinary in London and slipped down my rankings, leaving Azimeraw and Tigist Girma in equal 18th leading into Valencia last December. Amazingly both recorded the same time as each other there. I still can’t split them.
There are another four women who, on a good day, could take a top 3 place.
Fourth then here may be Ashete Bekere. I can't understand apart from injury why Worknesh Degefa, Azmera Abreha, and Tirunesh Dibaba aren't in this?
Fifth should be Birhane Dibaba

Sixth to finish might be Lelisa Desisa, current world Champ.
Also won New York in 2018.

Following is my profile from early last year when Birhane was running Tokyo:
Next woman might be Birhane Dibaba, 26yo and ranked 36. I knew she was building to something big when third in Valencia last December in 2.18.46. Dibaba was ninth in London in April then won the Copenhagen half in September in 65.57. Ran here five consecutive years 2014-18, only six women finished ahead of her across those marathons. In the last of those, Birhane dipped nine seconds under 2.20 in winning.
No, I saw it, just don’t believe it.

Next woman should be Zeinaba Yimer. What a record at this classic distance: two events, both in Valencia in successive years, both sub 2.20. Still only 22yo and also has good results over 10000 on the track, 15k and the half on the road. Almost made the track team for Worlds in 2019 when fourth over 10000 in the trial, so might try again if she fails here.

Next could be Mule Wasihun, his poorest result from 2019 may have been 8th over 15k in 43.03 when Gidey smashed the ladies in 44.20. Was third and fifth in the last two London marathons.
Seventh lady: Ruti Aga.
Jonathan Gault reported this five hours ago an another thread:
moved to Sebeta, Ethiopia. It will be on May 1. 35k. Story to come.

Second in Berlin both in 2017 and 2018, the latter one her PB of 2.18.34. In Tokyo 2018 and 2019 was second and first. Also in 2019 was third in New York.

The original list was ten men and 9 women while Tirunesh Dibaba was coming back in the NN event that was to be in Hamburg. Tirunesh never ran in that event and I wonder if she may try to make the Olympics?
Bekele famously claims to be injured or out of shape, immediately before wiping the mats with his competitors.

If Tirunesh’s name is added, I would place her just behind Aga. Just like Berlin 2018 when they were second and third just 17 min after Kipchoge set the current WR.

Eighth might end up being Tamirat Tola, PB of 2.04.06 from Dubai in 2018. Can turn up on the biggest stage with a bronze at the last Olympics (10000 on the track) and a silver at Worlds in 2017.
Ninth man may be the Dubai 2020 winner when on debut, Olika Adugna. He is 21yo.

Next woman may be Mare Dibaba who has run her PB of 2.19.52 twice. Was ranked by T&FNews as the world’s best in 2015, the year Mare won Worlds and was second in Boston. Won bronze in Rio then second in Berlin in 2019.
