Probably only in the throws.
I ran 5:01 mile with Army Boots ,on a gravel track during Basic training.
Emil Zátopek is known for his army boot training. He would have had a shot against early-50s collegiate competition, I think.
Solinsky
Jason Rexing.
honestly a super interesting question. Who was the most dominant NCAA athlete ever? Who had the biggest gap behind them?
another interesting question: what event would be most friendly to army style boots? Probbaly not XC because of the mud. Also probably not the 1500 cause you want some real stiffness to help you get on your toes. I would probably say the 5k
i just looked it up, the most dominant NCAA victory for a distance event was Kim Smith of providence college in 2004. She ended up winning the 5k by 36 seconds, beating runner-up Sara Bei of stanford. Do you think army boots would slow you down 3 seconds a lap in a 5k?
