I don't have one, but I understand that Landices are tanks. If you can get a well maintained L8 for $1200, that's probably a great deal. Keep in mind that L8s are pretty big - so confirm you have space.
I don't know anyone who owns a Landice and is unhappy with it. And when I got my (non-Landice, non-Woodway) treadmill repaired last week, the repair guy commented that he very rarely had calls for Landices - they just don't break.
As for a 180 pound runner training between 8 MPH and 11 MPH, I'm pretty sure the L8 would be sufficient, though it'd be ideal for someone closer to your speed and weight to comment. At that speed/weight combination, you're not maxing out the weight or speed capabilities of it, and it has a 4 CHP motor, which is generally as big a motor as you can find, IME (a few have 4.25 CHP)
