What is it going to take for Americans to acknowledge that we need a European style lockdown here? 500,000 Americans are now dead due to the irresponsible actions of many. We need to do something immediately before it’s too late!!

Those 500,000 people chose not to lock down. You can do the same. Most of have learned from this, that life is too short. You never know when your time will come so you should live life to the fullest and spend as much time with loved ones as possible. Others like you only worry about your own life.

i 100% agree.
Trump tried to stop it before it got big here. He banned travel from China but the democrats told us to go eat at China town and ride the subway in NYC.
We had Covid for a year with Trump and only 400,000 died. In less than one month of Biden, we had 100,000 die. Why hasn't he stopped it?
That is what the OP was getting at. The vulnerable died early on so it is easy to have numbers drop now but they are rising.

Exactly, January was the deadliest month yet. Now I hear people celebrating that we are down to 2,000 deaths per day. Think about that for a second, things have gotten so bad that we are excited when things get back to the level we are at almost a year ago.
Hate to say it, but it was a bigger deal when the number hit 3,000.
Now every new hundred thousand dead is just noise.
You are a lethal moron. The FDA withheld access to Moderna's and Pfizer's vaccines for nearly a year when the companies wanted to use a more efficient testing process that would have been much faster and provided equally valid information. These vaccines turned out to work, the FDA kept them from people for a year, and now 500K of those people are dead. We don't need a lockdown, we need to abandon the lethal religion of socialized medicine, which is what FDA regulation is.
That is correct. We were hoping that Biden would do something to make it better but it is apparent that he is more competent which obviously means that he is corrupt and just does not care about saving lives. I will take incompetence any day.

Of course you do.
General request for this thread, can we please try to keep it as non political as possible so that there can be a real discussion. I doubt the families and friends of the 500K dead Americans care about the difference if if Biden or Trump was in office when their loved one died. Thank you!
Yes, good to keep it from getting political.
Just read a really sobering article on how a covid-linked infection is hitting children very acutely, even killing some. It is growing in prevalence.
Please consider that helping curb the spread of this virus may also save some children's lives. If that doesn't matter to you, what does?

the problem with these threads is the basic assumption...
the 500k number has been thoroughly debunked by many seasoned experts
others argue that the number is accurate
nobody really knows, but for the most part, people are tired of being restricted
a number that should be discussed, but is never, is the estimated number of people who have died as a result of covid restrictions. consider drug overdoses, suicides, people missing doctor appointments and 'elective' procedures (which can include heart problems), starvation, supply chain breakdowns and more
The U.N. estimated that over an additional 100 million people would be on the edge of starvation due to covid restrictions... but people don't consider this, the third world countries seemingly get largely ignored
if you want to talk about the 500k number, fine, but if you don't discuss the other effects, you appear one-sided and political debate becomes impossible to avoid
I suppose if you believe in fairy tales then these numbers are accurate.
The number of deaths, approaching 500 K. are real and accurate.
But don't believe me. Yahoo news fact checked allegations that CDC inflated the numbers and concluded that nothing of the sort happened and that the death count is accurate.

Not close to real or accurate.

Propaganda from the Teachers Unions so they don't have to go back to work and the schools remain closed - a move that has devastated our children's educational and social health more than the virus you're fearmongering.
It's horrific how people automatically equate lockdowns to "saving lives" even though there is no scientific evidence that it does save lives, especially compared to lifting FDA restrictions on vaccines.
No lockdowns, no mask mask mandates, unrestricted access to vaccines = far more lives saved than the opposite.

The author, Pam Belluck, happens to be a a health and science writer whose honors include sharing a Pulitzer Prize and winning the Nellie Bly Award for Best Front Page Story, and she won a Fulbright Scholarship and a Knight Journalism Fellowship,
So i hardly know what you are talking about. Except that you will stoop to saying anything, however groundless, to support your narrative.
The CDC, like Dr Fraudci, has constantly and steadily altered its position on many “facts” regarding Covid. It is not the doubters who are creating so called conspiracies.

A pulitzer prize is neither scientific nor prestigious, sorry. You are a terrible person for spreading "news" that will only be used as ammo to prolong school closures.
