Admittedly " they all look alike" is something I grappled with when I first starting teaching at a school with a very large Chinese population. It didnt help that everyone was wearing the same PE uniform. I'm Jewish and if you put 50 Hasidic Jews in front of me I wouldn't be able to tell the difference either.

I have posted about Asian American rights but misidentification is an honest mistake and doesn't concern me much. It does point to a need of greater inclusion to reduce the occurrence.
When you have two people with similar characteristics different from the majority its easy to confuse them. I work with a high number of males and younger females. We have two females employees probably in their early 60's with light short hair and a little heavy. I always confuse them.
I have been mistaken for others but it doesn't bother me.
Bedides inclusion it certainly calls for greater diversity.

You got to be kidding me. That's hard to believe. Says a lot about you. Explains quite a bit

Says the person who stereotypes people and is the most judgemental on these boards. And you know I'm right, if not you never had 30 kids with the same color hair, style of haircut, same color of eyes and similar build wearing the same T shirt and shorts in front of you.

Good point.

I would expect nothing less from you, the most disingenuous poster on these boards. How often have you stood in front of 30 9th grade boys with short straight black hair and brown eyes wearing the same T shirt and shorts? You would admit the same if you got out of your basement.

You are right and coach wrongly phrased his comment. We all don't look alike. If coach clarified his thinking by saying I had difficulty identifying my different Chinese students that would have been more accurate instead of repeating an incorrect stereotype. He might have implied it was his deficit but he should have been more clear on that.

I stated when I first started teaching while responding to an article about Asian stereotypes- thus admitting what many people won't admit-Including the uncle who generalizes about Jews with his hate speech. If there's anything "says alot about you" it's being honest again unlike the uncle.
Taking attendance in a gym, getting to learn the names of students is not easy.

That's a lie. As usual. Show me one example of me generalizing about Jews with his hate speech.
This is about how racist you are. Not how honest you are.

Lived and worked in Asia for many years in a couple of different cities. Yes, it gets easier to tell different Asian ethnicities apart. However, nationalities are harder. Worked with people from Singapore and Taipei but both being Chinese sometimes hard to tell from what country upon first meeting them. Same can be said when working with Thai-Chinese and Indonesian-Chinese.

You wanted Less people from the ruling tribe. In elite schools. Pretty clear you didn’t mean white Protestants.
Also, it was pretty clear that coach considered it a deficit. We all have deficits and biases. We all need to work on them. You have to recognize your deficits and biases to work on them.
In addition, by putting “They all lol alike” in quotes, coach clearly was indicating that he didn’t actually believe that was true.
