She has the World Junior record in the 400 and the 11th fastest indoor all time lol! She set the collegiate record in the 600 also.

Please it's a relay split with a running start. Mu likely can't run 50.52 in a flat 400m. That time would have been the 10th fastest time in the world in 2019. If she can run that in a flat 400m she'd be a 400 sprinter, not an 800 runner.
Watch the video, it's an open race from a down start. The relay split you're referring to was a 50 flat ;)

Makes a lot of sense!
I think 4/8 training is best for early development, although when you get to meets that have rounds, 8/mile runners have the advantage.
Why do 8/mile runners have an advantage with rounds? I’ve never heard a satisfactory explanation for this opinion.
The explanation that runners with better endurance recover faster would be plausible to me, but can we even say this statement is true? Looking at a small sample size of the last 9 global outdoor medalists at 800:
2019 DOHA
- Brazier may be a pure 800 guy. His 3:35 is solid but with an indoor 600 pr of 1:13 I wouldn't say his endurance is better than his speed.
- Tuka has run 46.15 for 400 and no 1500s so he's more 400/800.
- Rotich has run 3:33 and is more 800/1500.
2017 LONDON
- Bosse has run 1:13 for 600 and no 1500s of note so he seems either pure 800 or speed based.
- Kszcot seems more speed based. 3:38 is unimpressive. 46.51 is decent.
- Bett not sure, only great mark is the 800 time.
2016 RIO
- Rudisha is more speed based having run 45.15.
- Makhloufi is more 800/1500
- Murphy is more 800/1500
So by my count the success is leaning to the speed based guys. Only Rotich, Makh, and Murphy are definitely milers. I could throw Brazier in there too since I think he'll pop a 3:31 one of these days but even then that's only 4 of 9.
Not a prayer, not a chance going sub 49.50 outdoor, let alone 49.00. You people get so hyped up over the littlest crap.

Not a certain thing for sure, but I would not rule it out. She will probably get stronger, and I do think she will benefit on the 400 m track.
No,she hasnt got a hope in hell of breaking 49 seconds, ever. She's fast, but not that fast. She might run 50 flat,or slightly under but not sub 49.She hasnt got the leg speed.Maybe eventually she'll run a 1.55 800.

Sydney still has that
BTW: where is Sydney these days?
On the where are they now Category. Where is Jazmine Fray? The Texas A&M 800m runner who was doing so well in 2017
No. Sydney does not have it.
Would anyone else like to make a speculative or patently false statement denigrating Mu's accomplishment? Now's the time.

That was not I, the thread was combined by Rojo or someone and retitled.

What is the false statement?
Having actually wasted the time to read this whole thread, I’m astonished by the number of people who have revealed themselves as fools in less than 3 pages.
On an unrelated note, I believe Mu can run 49-mid and 1:55ish in a couple years, with Ajee Wilson’s 1:55.61 AR ultimately on the table. Of course setbacks could befall her, but the potential is there.
Yes seriously how come no one else as emphasized that it's a relay split with a running start
Could easily be a second if not two seconds faster than what you would run otherwise
Anyway she's a great Runner and great talent but her best distance is the 600
Isn't she the American record holder in the indoor 600
Alright my mistake. Didn't realize she did it in a open race with a Down Start. Yeah she's got a lot of talent. Just got to work on the strength for the last two hundred and could be one of the all-time best Runners anywhere from 400 through 800

LEGIT.
Yes. She has had an incredible range for years. Also its not like she was running a ton of indoor 400m races vs top notch competition. Its not uncommon for freshman to have breakout seasons, since they are getting better coaching, better training partners and are focused on the sport year round.
She is an amazing talent. It will be fun to see just how fast she can go.

There is a lot of potential crow pie eating potential here.
Many going out on the "2600 limb" with their naysaying.
