So is the 400/800 conversion significantly different for women?
I’d think that’d have to be worth at least 1:56 in the 800m
Brandon Miller 47.32 from 3rd in the men's 400.
Is Athing Mu holding back in the 800? Could run 155?
I think she's working towards it for outwards. Texas A&M has a youtube channel just for their 800 group, in one of the videos they mention how most of the squad trains for both 400/800 and that they are being trained for "600" if that makes sense

Makes a lot of sense!
I think 4/8 training is best for early development, although when you get to meets that have rounds, 8/mile runners have the advantage.
Dang.
Previous Indoor best, 52.55
Today indoor best, 50.52
LEGIT.
Oh oh oh oh... let's start a list...
Any other sub-51.00 for 400m and sub-5:00 for the Mile???
Athing Mu, 50.52/4:59.48
Uh... no one else, EVER??
She's in some pretty great company.. guaranteed a Gold at some point in her career...
ALL-TIME USA 400M INDOORS
50.34, Kendall Ellis - 2 x World Champion
50.36, Sydney McLaughlin - World Champion
50.46, Phyllis Francis - Olympic Gold Medalist, 3 x World Champion
50.52, Athing Mu
50.54, Francena McCorory - 2 x Olympic Gold Medalist, 4 x World Champion
50.55, Courtney Okolo - Olympic Gold Medalist, 3 x World Champion
50.62, Lynna Irby
50.64, Diane Dixon - Olympic Gold and Silver Medalist, 2 x World Champion
50.71, Sanya Richards-Ross - 4 x Olympic Gold Medalist, 7 x World Medalist
50.79, Jessica Beard - 5 x World Champion
I'm predicting American Record, 800m indoors, 1:58.12 or faster.
I think she will win in Tokyo this summer. The women's 800 is wide open, Nakaayi timed her peak perfect in 2019 and Rogers and Wilson are extremely good but I think Mu will be better come this summer.
Wouldn't put it past her.
We merged two threads into 1
YouTube has it now. Amazing she is!

The conversion is different for every individual. Her 2:01 converts to 2:01. Not 1:56.

yea, I think the 1:56 and Olympic Gold thoughts are getting a little ahead of themselves. Maybe by June we will see more clearly.
Notice how she did cut her teammate off today?

She cut her off, still she would have won, she will race her teammate many times as she is a Freshmen and her Teammate Charokee Young is a Sophomore, I think she can eventually be a GREAT 1500 runner if she wants to move up eventually I am thinking faster than the current record and sub 3:50
Please it's a relay split with a running start. Mu likely can't run 50.52 in a flat 400m. That time would have been the 10th fastest time in the world in 2019. If she can run that in a flat 400m she'd be a 400 sprinter, not an 800 runner.
