So a complaint has been filed trying to save the Clemson track team, saying their cutting of the team is a violation of the Title VI of the Civil Rights act. I hope it's successful
What I don't get is why someone or the same people also file a Title IX complaint?
Proving racial discrimination to me is a lot harder than sex discrimination. The Title IX comlaint seems rather straightforward. The school didn't decide that track and field wasn't a worthy sport to have. They decided that men's track and field wasn't a sport worth having. The men's track runners were clearly discriminated upon because of their sex.
The men's track runners were cut 100% because they are male. Seems hard to argue against. I don't want to hear about about needing to balance things out overall for men's football and overall Title IX compliance. A school wouldn't be allowed to discriminate against black poetry majors simply because they brought in less money than black econ majors.
