I coach a young HS girl who ran 12:30 (XC 3200m) off of low mileage her first season of training. Combined with the fact that this was a shortened season (we only started training in late august). This is her first track season coming up, I am thinking she is capable of 5:30 - 5:15 or faster with continued consistent training and gradual increase in mileage + continued participation in weight room / training program. What are some expected progressions? I know that young women aren't always a linear progression as they develop, but I believe she should increase quite a bit just off of the continued training!
