I am currently rapping up XC season as a high school junior in NC. States are on Saturday but after that I have about a ~2 month break before track season starts up. My best time in the 5k on a legit course is 16:09 this season @Wake med by NC State averaging about 55-60 mpw with typically a long run (13-15 miles) and two workouts with one usually being a tempo or k reps, and the other being some shorter track work (ex: 20 by 200 + some 400s) With this break I think it opens up a great opportunity to get some base building in, and figured it couldn't hurt to maybe throw a race in to keep the motivation going. I don't know where exactly to set my goal, but am looking to stretching my fitness a lot over the next few months and hopefully running a few 80+ mile weeks. The last half marathon I ran was in October and was a debut in the distance for me and I ran a time of low 1:17 of 50mpw off base mileage. This may make 1:13 seem like a very, very large stretch, but the first 10k was done in 35 even, and I didn't really know what I was doing. Any tips or recommendations on what to with the next few months to accomplish this goal??? I do have a few tentative races btw
