Typical technique of putting someone well spoken usually who fits some special interest box out but has no clue what the heck they are talking about out there to push your political agenda.
But a well spoke girl out there to push a message not so subtly that half the country is hateful and racist and Joe Bidens victory is the victory of good over evil.
This is a technique that both sides use but the progressives are very quilty of this because if you start digging into their agenda on a policy basis you realize how BS it is. A classic example of this is how they throw Great Thurnberg out to act hysterically about climate change. Let's not pay attention to the facts that surround climate change or what the impacts are really are, here's a kid with Aspergers whose upset so don't look at where the money is flowing.
Also as an aside since I can't just leave Anderson Cooper alone. Nothing more disgusting than someone promoting a progressive agenda who is literally and Vanderbilt heir and inherited tens of millions of dollars and has spent his life in a plastic bubble of wealth. The celebrity Jeopardy appearance of his was very telling. Literally no substance behind the individual, just your classic totally uninformed social justice warrior.
PLEASE stop repeating the LIE that “half” the country voted for Trump. Total nonsense! That’s Trump 101.....repeat a lie over and over and over and over again....and most people will start to believe it.

Here story is admirable but I wasn't impressed.
Interesting. How would you compare the quality of her speaking and poem to a Donald Trump speech?
Granted she has poise and spoke well, I just thought the content wasn't very good.
Obama is a good speaker, but if you listen to what is actually said, the content, a lot of times he said nice words but didn't say anything.
Trump is a terrible speaker. But it was his actions not his speaking ability that attracted people.
her delivery was first class... she’s a natural.
and while I mostly agree with the sentiment the content was meh.

Shut up. You were jerking all over trump since you started trolling here. Don’t pretend you’re being satirical or funny.

Are you referencing her reciting her poem at the inauguration?
Because this thread is how she handled herself in this particular interview with the back-and-forth of the questions.
GW Bush had a charming, Texas, conversational style, usually didn't pull many punches, said what he meant and meant what he said. That's why they labeled him dumb.
Bill Clinton was very good public speaker, had an optimistic tone about him, alway seemed to have a message and appropriate content.
Haven't heard enough of Biden yet, just a bunch of gaffs when not reading a teleprompter.

I’m sorry, anyone who says she is not extremely impressive has is crazy. This young lady would be impressive if she was 43 years old but to be 23 makes her overly impressive!!
Yeah... Her performance at the inauguration, her interview... I'm really impressed by this woman, and she's only 23! I'm nowhere near her level of poise.
She's gained 2.4 million followers since her appearance at the inauguration. The sky's the limit for this young woman.

Definitely her essay (poem...whatever). I could care less about a CNN interview in which she talks about herself to a friendly reporter. Most 6 year olds can give a good interview.

Then why do you keep responding on a thread about her interview?

I was not impressed either. Her comment about being a skinny black girl was odd. What if it was a fat white boy saying that about himself at a trump inauguration? He would have been run out of the country by now. She is a woman, not a girl. Mentioning that she is skinny is just strange.
She writes and recites poetry that indicates she thinks deeply and the esteemed critics of LRC, basement dwelling beings that get their knowledge off social media, mark her down for referring to her background and growing up as a skinny black girl.

Yes!! Trump's 'actions' were even more attractive than his speaking ability.

Hey Iamsamthejoohater, don't forget the Joos, man. What about the Joos?
I'm not dissing her but perhaps someone might explain what it was she said that so impressed them.

I agree. Her story is actually quite inspiring and moving. For someone with a speech impediment and hearing difficulties to willing put themselves in front of audiences reading their own works and then accept the invitation to put themselves on the biggest stages in the world. Putting your creative works out into the world takes some bravery. Takes way more thought and courage than anonymously criticizing someone on a message board.

I particularly liked her verse on justice
I'm paraphrasing here, but " sometimes "just is" is not justice". Meaning, we must strive to make a more perfect union.

Having read the text of her poem the impression I get is that its overall message of hope and its presentation - by an articulate young black woman - is what gave it most of its effect. But beyond that it seems rather slight from a literary - or poetic - point of view. I doubt that any of its lines will resonate through the ages, or even be remembered.
You refer to the line of "a more perfect union", which is of course Lincoln at Gettysburg. He set the bar rather high, in terms of sentiment and literary power, and a 22-year old could be excused for not quite getting near it.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
