there would be multiple routes to winning the presidency. the city route, the rural route, etc. a benefit would be that everyone gets to decide and gets to hear the campaigns. Now if you live in a city you don't hear any R politicians or see any R ads because your vote is not in dispute. Sure would be nice to have an actual national campaign. I'd like my big blue city to have an actual effective conservative party, to balance out the crazy on the left. That could happen.
Sure, but the amendment you are seeking is only to benefit the Democrat party ... not the nation. If the Constitution said democracy rules, and you Dems kept losing presidential elections, you Libs would try to amend it to create an electoral college. You guys (and I say this respectfully) are all about increasing your political power.
ok we'll keep electing minority rule presidents who are legit awful. Democracy rejected the two worst presidents of the last 50 years, Bush2 and Trump, but this stupid anti-democratic system put them in power. And the nation has suffered grievously from it. And will go on suffering.
Fine. 100% fine.
Trump was fine until COVID hit (and did a better job of handling COVID than a Democrat would have done). Biden has been terrible. Obama was not spectacular by any stretch of the imagination.
This is getting interesting. Trump is hitting the campaign trail and starting to bash De Santis. Why? well he is Trump and that is his MO. And his pseudo Alpha male grievance loving cult love that stuff and eat it up.
DeSantis has to keep his mouth shut or risk turning the red cap wearers against him like Pence. Nobody speaks out against him. LMAO!
it seems most of the GOP wish he would go away because he is a scourge. But trump holds the purse strings.
Agip - if we did away with the electoral college, wouldn't Calif. and NY determine most elections? Do you want 2 states to determine pretty much all the presidential elections? Should not all states have a say in who the president is?
The truly ironic thing is that it was flips in CA and NY that won the house majority for Republicans in the last election. That is the real indicator of shifting sentiments in the US away from Democrats.

Oh man the short memory
ok man ok
just might want to mention the coup attempt, the endless scandals, the endless lies, the working with russia To get elected, the two impeachments AND THE BLOODY CITY INSURRECTION. I

States are just lines on a map. People should decide elections.
Too bad your source was from January 2022. Evidently on a year old Gallup poll, where everyone is either R or D and nothing in-between. But, as the later link below shows, at the end of 2022 (via "phone" surveys ... LOL): 28% R, 28% D, 41% I. "Bottom Line: Last year was not as strong a year for Republicans electorally as they had wanted."
Gallup telephone survey's achieve an astounding ~7% response rate to cold calls. You seem desperate to prove you are the "winning" side. All thing considered, neither 30% or 26% is winning. What is important is which age group considers itself mostly part of which party. Old people = R. Middle Age = D. Millennial = I. Based on this, you are most likely an oldies, or an oldie wannabe.
Telephone survey response rates are down across the survey research industry, requiring researchers to explore alternatives that supplement phone surveys.
While the Silent Generation and baby boomers have become less likely to identify as political independents as they have aged, Generation X and millennials are maintaining high levels of independent identification.

well yes and that is a healthy thing. Each party should act as a check on the other. Suburbs moved R in '22 in response to crime increases and the sense Dem politicians aren't doing enough about it. So if democracy works, the Dem politicians will now get more serious about crimes.
You are making an argument to abolish the electoral college. Nether NY nor CA could possibly vote red, so there will be no presidential campaigning there, so there will be no check on the Dems. This is not healthy. Rs should feel free to campaign for president in CA and NY but they can't because it is just a waste of money. Make it not a waste. Make a vote in NY mean the same as a vote in AZ.

If it were up to me we'd have a national popular vote, but it's not happening.
You still have to face the fact that the candidates you hate still got 46-48% of the vote, and lost by a margin they could potentially overcome if it were a popular vote. Complaining about the electoral college is mostly cope.
Putin is far more honest than the US Intelligence community

This. Right on. Keep on truckin'. Putin has never lied to us. Putin has never tried to take down one of our presidents. Putin never investigated decent, J. Christ-fearing Americans for sedition. He never busted on Americans. There's a whole list of stuff Putin never did to decent Americans.

Early in his steamed career, Putin may have been a bit fast and loose with the truth. He was KGB and the culture of KGB at the time was not necessarily one of invincible accuracy.
But certainly since Putin has risen to a world leader his veracity and integrity have similarly risen in statute. His honesty is beyond impeachment. He's been a world leader of great materiality for over 20 years now, and all this Putin-bashing by liberals is sour grapes of the culture of personal destruction.
The Manhattan district attorney’s office on Monday will begin presenting evidence to a grand jury about Donald J. Trump’s role in paying hush money to a porn star during his 2016 presidential campaign, laying the groundwork for potential criminal charges against the former president in the coming months, according to people with knowledge of the matter. The grand jury was recently impaneled, and witness testimony will soon begin, a clear signal that the district attorney, Alvin L. Bragg, is nearing a decision about whether to charge Mr. Trump.
Wait, what? Are you trying to blame the 2020 racial riots on Trump? The only incidents I can think of where an entire city was bloody were the Minneapolis riots. Maybe Portland, Seattle, Atlanta, Chicago, LA, St. Louis etc.
