you okay buddy? you've never sounded this agitated before.
I guess. I moved to Southern California a year or so ago for work. Just frustrated that a) the response to the pandemic is half as'ed. I heard on the radio that CA isn't doing too bad for tax dollars due to tourism last year. Great - the stay at home orders didn't work. Are we trying to slow a pandemic or generate revenues here?
It just makes it more frustrating that the area on the east coast I came from is having racing again without a hitch. I haven't heard of anyone in the running community getting sick from attending a road race. If someone treated a race like a party and got sick from that, I wouldn't care about them because I view running as a sport not a social activity.
I just entered a race that I have to travel to via plane, stay in hotels, rent a car, etc. The cost of doing all this will end up being around 1k, of which $45 I will lose if the race gets covid axed. I'll lose $125 if they decide to postpone to some weekend I can't go with no option to defer to another year. Its hard to get time off at work and I can be required to work any weekend on short notice. Most professionals don't work any weekends, so when races decide to go willy nilly with their dates, it sucks for me whereas others are like ya, cool, whatevs, I'll change my plans.
