Big fan boy here. Ran exclusively in adidas for a couple years. Current rotation as follows:
Easy/steady/long: solar glide. Got 2 pairs. Easily get 800km out of them, comfy, good amount of cushion, don’t feel too bad for pushing the pace if I’m feeling good on an easier run.
Faster long runs/longer tempos/steady runs: Boston 9. Also used the SL20 for this but retired them after 750km. Overall prefer the Boston 9. No bells and whistles just a super smooth ride. Very durable as well.
Shorter intervals(1600>): adios 5 or takumi sen 5. Could even do long runs in the adios 4 but the 5 feels far more minimal. Takumi sen is definitely ‘faster’ but don’t enjoy it for longer efforts.
Longer intervals/faster tempos: adizero pro. Don’t think of this shoe as a carbon plate super shoe because at least for me it really isn’t. It works great on workout days but definitely nothing ‘special’.
Racing( 5k>): takumi sen 5. Still prefer a lower stack traditional flat for shorter distances. Just feels more aggressive.
Racing(10k<): adios pro. Best till last. Hell of a shoe. For sure on the same level as the next%, endorphin pro, fuelcell RC or any other legit racer. Would also use it for a couple key sessions in the lead up to a race.
Overall the adidas line up is really stellar. The only thing missing for me is a ‘companion’ high stack trainer for the adios pro. Nothing else with three stripes feels even remotely similar. With the upcoming Boston 10 seemingly sharing a lot of the same characteristics it looks like 2021 will be a good year for adidas.
