BTC never really worked for her. It's basically a long distance track runners group. Maybe Julian's group?

She needs some of that Tinman Training
She needs a lot more speed work and less mileage whether she chooses to focus on the 800m or the 1500m. Shorter faster reps.
Some weights wouldn’t go amiss either. BTC seem to skimp on those for less beneficial things. Probably explains their high injury rate in conjunction with high mileage.
No weights. That's the cause of their injuries.

I mean, she ran 4:20 in the mile & the Bowerman women have crushed every distance and have made teams during her entire time there.
Maybe it just wasn't a good fit, but this reads as them not renewing her contract even though she is still going to be a Nike runner. I wish she could sign with another group. That doesn't seem to be the case. Hopefully she makes the 800 team & they see what they're missing.
Speaking of BTC women, is Marielle Hall still a part of the team?

I feel like every season she posts about just kind of struggling to keep up with Jerrys training, hasn't gotten the hang of it yet (body adapted), etc.
Good for her she left, hope her the best away from there.. She crushed it before being Nike, BTC didn't make her.
Perhaps her negotiation didn't involve Jerrys group but Nike still had the best money, who knows.
yes Marielle is still on the team and up at altitude camp with them now. She has run well if not as high of a profile as some of her teammates. She was the top American ahead of Huddle ans Sisson on the most reals Worlds 10,000m, in a PR around 31:10 or maybe a hair under. She also won the US champs 15K.
It is definitely more difficult to be a huge name as a 10K specialist because there are so few races at that distance and the hassan/ayanna/other east africans are so dominant that unless you are ready to run about 20 seconds faster than the AR, you are not in medal contention. She did have some really good pieces of writing featured in runner world around the BLM movement that got some attention. I also think its good for the bowerman babes, which can be very white-girl centric, to have some diversity in their roster, and nike also likely sees the value in that
Better suited to a group like Julian's, because she's more of a pure middle distance runner. I wouldn't think that Rose Monday would be for her either, because that is too speed-based.
She is in the same position Centro was a couple years back.
Since Nike has 3 teams it sponsors, her only options are to stay in Portland and run with Raevyn Rogers under Pete Julian, or move down to Eugene and train with OTC Elite runners Hannah Green & Chanelle Price under Mark Rowland.
By the way, "Team Julian" should be announcing it's new name pretty soon.
I think an unfortunate thing to remember for her is that she's getting old for the 800/1500. She's 32 years old, not many people are running their world class PR's in those events at the age of 32 or older. A tough time to switch coaches only 6 months from the month of the olympic trials in likely her last competitive olympic trials.

I wonder if someone like Scott Raczko is what she needs.
Grace's move to Schumacher always seemed to be motivated by status, as opposed to doing the right thing for her career. Despite not really having any 800/1500 success at that point, Nike and BTC had the glitz and it seemed that was what she had always been angling for - she had an initial overture to Schumacher rebuffed before she made the team in '16. These goals and motivations make sense given she's a rich girl from LA.
I think she's always been someone with a 1:57-1:58 / 4:00-4:01 ceiling who, if lucky, could make a couple teams. She got lucky and did that. Will likely be 5th or something at the Trials this year then hopefully finds happiness doing something else.

She had made an 8 person Olympic FINAL before she joined Bowerman . I’m still amazed she did that. The 800 final is the hardest distance final to make. Ajee didn’t make it that year.
Switching groups is a good idea. She’s not progressing so I’d change something up and see if she can make Tokyo. If not she had a good run. Maybe hang in for Eugene 2022.
THIS.
She could potentially partially overlap with Koko/hull and approach 800m from a more 1500m point of view, but still a reduction in mileage from bowerman
That’s great. She’s my favorite BTC athlete.
Also interesting to see IP addresses and the people who are posting here.

Jerry’s training didn't fit to her
You should say that Jerry's training was just not good.
Well . One way to view it is. Jerry may have been giving her the training she needs to do to run a certain level. Normally, I believe in coaching a runner by simply looking at their training and taking the next logical step. But sometimes, at Cornell, if they were a senior or something, I'd say, "If you want to do xxx, you need to be able to do yyyy" in training. Forcing it almost never works but the reality is if Kate is going to be world class at 1500, there was likely a bare minimum of stuff that Jerffy imagined she needed to do.
I had a studly 800 recruit. We tried to bump up his mileage a bit. It didn't work. I decided - ok, we can drop him back down to 20 mpw and he can run 151 for the rest of his life. That's pretty good but he's not going to progress from there. If I was Kate, I'd say move back to the 800, drop your mileage and go all in on speed. She'll benefit from the strength work she did the last few years and she's gotten way more competitive in the 800 at a global level since all the intersex women have been booted.
When Semenya and company were in the event, there was really no poitn for Kate to be in the 800. But now it's the opposite.
Agreed. If she could dip under 1:58 she'd be a serious competitor.
Would you and JK be open to coaching her to greatness?

Raczko's results are hard to argue with. Webb to 1:43/3:46.91, Richard Smith to 1:49 in hs, and then Keira D'Amato did well this year with 68:57 for half marathon.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
