He was also fit this past Fall period and Joe Gray still absolutely demolished his fkt on the Boulder Skyline! This seth kid is overrated, youtube fame doesn't equate= elite status

I don’t think anyone with a half a brain thinks he’s elite. He’s just more interesting than most elites. Silly boy.

Depends on where you draw the line for elite. Gray did 2:32 for Skyline supported, Seth 2:38 self-supported. IDK if that is "absolutely demolished" territory. He also won Pikes Peak in 3:36, the 4th fastest winning time since 2000, which is not bad considering how smoky it was. At the very least he has his niche: high altitude.
If high altitude is his niche then why have sea level guys like Andy Wacker, Sage Canaday and Joe Gray beat him at altitude races time and time again? Also self support vs support is kinda irrelevant. Either you run fast or not. They both carried their own drinks and ran with their own 2 legs...

He should have planned better and taken his shot at the Marathon Project like everybody else.
Why would they have invited him, so he could run with Sara Hall & out kick her to go sub 2:20? He hasn't even run an OTQ if I'm not mistaken.
Whatcha talkin about? Sage's best at Pikes is 3:39, Wacker's is 3:58, and 3:36 for Seth. He also has a better PR at Kendall Mountain than Sage.
I noticed you left Gray out of that reply, good idea because Gray has pretty demolished him every single time. Also, his time being better means nothing. Head to head is what people will remember. If I run a 2:00 marathon against nobodies but lose at every race outside of a weak time trial then im in fact not the best or even in the convo. Sage and Andy as well as Joe have all beaten Seth at races head to head. Gray beat seth by 5 or so mins en route to his world mountain victory. Andy and Gray were far ahead of seth at the national mountain run champs as well
Well, all three - Gray, Seth, and Sage - were nowhere to be seen at the Golden Trail Championships... no sense in getting demolished by Walmsley.
as someone were posed themselves as covering races, flying all over the country to cover, I thought it was odd SJD never even mentioned the marathon project. I think he was probably mad they did not give him an entry or media pass.
I say once again head to head is what matters. Jim didn't win golden trail did he? He has raced Gray multiple times in road and XC, tell me who won those races? Sage also has beaten jim head to head in XC as well! Lets stay on topic!

There are way too few h2h data points in high altitude races to ignore times. Only one I know is Seth beating Andy by over 8 minutes at Pikes Marathon this year. But this is not boxing. Gray is a multiple world champion, so yeah I'd bet on him to win in a Pikes ascent. Seth would be a favorite tho against Sage or Andy. Andy was 30 seconds ahead of Demoor at the national mountain run champs, who made the team in 3rd place.
Plz quit posting about Seth, zack leavitt, and spencer brown. None of these guys are worth posting about.
I'll stay on topic. They are both World Champs. Joe has lost all his CR to Jim the last three years, including Kendall Mountain and SZ. I'm super interested in what Jim could do at Pikes Peak or Mount Washington. I've placed 2nd to both these guys and they are beasts in their own rights... listen, Gray is a umpteen-time US Champion and only one of three World Champions that are American (Gray, King, Walmsley)... they are different beasts, yet similar track backgrounds. Remember, Joe, like Seth and Sage, could not qualify for the 2020 Trials.. only Walmsley did.

Again, head to head is what matters. How do we know the weather didn't change the outcomes. Different days and different competitions. Gray ran his best time on a muddy day in SZ and Jim ran on a perfect weather day, Gray was 2nd and Jim got 3rd. Competing is what its about. Not sure Gray made an attempt or desired to run trials? Never saw him post about that. Head to head Gray has beaten Jim each time thats all we can go off of. CR's are irrelevant as courses change, shoes change and motivations for specific time bonuses change. Gray has also won major XC and sub ultra trail races which Jim hasn't so we could use that same argument here. But if its not head to head who cares.
Just looked up this CR claim btw. Jim broke the kendall mt record which Gray still holds the ascent record for. Gray was coming from sea level and according to his post race interview he just chilled coming down as he had another big race in 6 days. The year Gray won there was nobody to compete with and he was ahead of the record so again, times change but competing doesn't. Times will get faster but what matters is how an athlete competes on race day at major races. Jim ran 2:31 at SZ losing by 6 mins on a perfect weather day. Thats not exactly competing or brag worthy for an American record on that route I would say.
And now I see why you are a Colorado cry baby.. you simply don't understand mountain/trail running. Here is Joe's last ditch attempt he made an IG story about, 1:04:51 at Houstonhttps://track.rtrt.me/e/HOU-2020#/leaderboard/top-men-halfmarathon-_ALL/FINISH-H

And just to follow this up, Joe is a phenomenal guy, super approachable. He'll be the first one to comment positively about his teammate Walmsley and his performances, never taking anything away from him. He knows Jim's strengths and he knows his own. He'd never back away from any commentary. he's a stand-up guy. Reach out to him on social.
coloradocrybaby , what are you even arguing in Jim vs Joe? I guess we're no longer talking about Seth vs Andy since Seth won their last head to head by a large margin?
Good point. I hadn't realized Andy raced him again. As for the half by Gray, I highly doubt that was a serious effort, he ran US snow Nats here in Colorado right after and before Houston he was snowshoeing. Gotta think if he was planning to run a road race he wouldn't be snowshoeing
