I often wondered why Nike seems to be so obsessed with it, but always kind of concluded that it's because of the company's background and people like Alberto Salazar being close with the likes of Phil Knight. However, also Adidas sponsors a lot of random african elites and if it's true that Puma tries to join the game it has to be worth something?! Genuinely interested
It's advertising. Look at the demand for the boingy boingy $200 plus shoes now. That wasn't going to happen unless you had the spectacular times elites turned in from using them.

Except the high school equivalent of hobby joggers sure do! Or at least their affluent parents. While other brands' spikes get marked down almost immediately after release, the Dragonfly and Zoom Air Victory sell out at full price within hours of dropping.
