Clemson was also missing two significant defensive players and handed ND a TD on offense with the Etienne fumble.
Lawrence will make a big difference as will the two defensive guys coming back. Clemson will win and likely by double digits.
And ND fumbled at 9" line or the game doesn't go to overtime. I wouldn't be shocked by clemson winning or ND winning again. I have no clue of ND or clemson played the best possible game, worst game, or an average one. It is hard to evaluate both programs as they have basically played like 2 hard games all year.
I will say that when ND is good, they serve a purpose of playing a bunch of cross conference games that few good schools do. For example next year they will face wisconsin (decent big 10 team), Cincinnati (would have been nice to see them play this year), and stanford/USC(yeah they are down but both tend to be contenders in the Pac10). Compare that to Alabama (Miami), Clemson (Georgia), or Ohio St (Oregon), Oklahoma (I guess Nebraska), Texas (nobody). It is hard to get a view on how good conferences are when they play cupcakes and conference games (are they all good or average). Of course the problem with all scheduling is that most programs are on cycles and if they are up when you face them is a bit of crap shoot.
