Title says it all. True 5k.... I would know, I ran it with a GPS watch. Underrated, && the kid's only a junior. Scary

You heard it here, folks. It the gps reads 5k, the course is legit. Glad we cleared that up. Can we delete the 238 threads that argue this now?
Proud member of Tinman Junior Elite.
He also ran faster in this race than a lot of the tinman elite guys last winter.
He’s been fast. Think he was the fastest 3200 runner as a freshman and the only Soph to qualify for FLXC
Nice job Larry!

Perfect response...
Dang. That course has been run close to 100 times, and I've never seen anyone sub-15 let alone sub-14:20... insane run. Kid is fit.

I didnt realize that tinman had a son and named him Tinman Jr, much less that he started his own training club. Is it in opposition to his fathers team, or collaborative?
Another one of these Tinman Jr Elite guys ran like 14:40 last week in a huge PR. Tinman certainly is the hottest coach out there tight now.
There's nothing elite about running 14.40 on a short 5k
This kid's time may or may not be legit (commercial GPS on watches is never hyper accurate) but, I think that the lack of racing is actually helping a lot of young athletes to achieve better performances. Funny how kids run faster when focused on a single race and without having to race 10-15 other 5K events over the course of the season?
We over race high school kids. Greedy coaches also ask too much by extending their athletes up to a month beyond state championship races to also do NXN and/or Footlocker. A few superstars can handle it but, I think that it ruins many of the #2-#7 runners supporting the aspirations of their #1 athlete.

Actually he didn’t qualify for FLNC
I say the opposite, without enough races it’s hard to get into the grove and relearn how to really hurt
We sign up to run not practice
Wow that's really good. Maybe he will be in the Olympics someday!
He will be my rival.
You are incorrect. Elite runners race less.

Aidan Puffer another Tinman Junior runner qualified for FLNC as a sophomore and Gavin Sheery also qualified as a sophomore. All 3 ran sub 9 for indoor 3200 last year. And to my knowledge none of them run huge mileage. I’ve noticed for years on this board that the standard advice for HS runners looking to get better is “80+ MPW”. But it seems that most of the sub 9 HS runners I’ve read about train all year (with a couple very short breaks ) and average about 55 miles per week with a lot of CV and Tempo workouts. Advising HS kids to run 80+ MPW with numerous doubles might make you an elite runner, but chances are better that your end of year training volume will be less than than the guys who averaged 55 MPW (because you will be injured for weeks at a time)!!!
Best runner in the class of 2022?
He also ran 14:54 at Desert Twilight finishing 2nd. This is a tough crowd when 14:40 isn't exciting. There were sub 9 minute 3200 runners slower than 14:40 at RunningLane but I guess sub 9 is not exciting either.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
