Most photos I see of COVID fatality victims appear to be overweight. Rarely hear reports from the media about what poor shape the majority of the US population is in. No mention of getting active, getting fit. A lot of reports on COVID weight gains.Sad.:(
What % of low body fat, fit individuals have died from COVID?

Since we will not turn the majority of U.S. citizens into middle weight professional boxers or N.F.L. cornerbacks ...
1) All indoor restaurant service needs to cease immediately;
2) Mandatory mask wearing for public transportation, all indoor shopping and all indoor work places;
3) No fans in the stands at any athletic event. -
You would hope to see more people getting outside, running, walking, moving, etc with all the free time they had. Instead they sat at home eating and watching tiktok.

Well, if people ate more healthy diets (like cooking healthy food instead of ordering less healthy food from restaurants), then this would address the major problem that this thread alludes to.
It's not like people need the fitness of professional athletes to improve their probability of surviving Covid-19. Just achieving a weight that is not obese would help a lot. -

Poster, you are getting mad at people for being poor. It is cheaper to get full on potato chips than it is to get full on natural brown rice, organic chicken breast and kale. Blaming unhealthy citizens for not being healthy and blaming poor people for being poor does not change the facts: 1) Wear a mask and 2) separate physically. -
First of all, I am not mad, just sad. Blaming poor people? Where does that come from? My observations are that obesity is prevalent regardless of socio- economic status. Relax my friend.

I don’t know. A bag of chips is like $5.
Kale and rice are very cheap. Normal non-organic chicken isn’t terribly expensive... $2/pound. For $5 you could make several meals worth of what you’ve described. -
Junk food is cheaper. You can get a burger from McDonalds for a buck. In rural areas, fresh produce is definitely not as cheap as what you listed, either.

A single cheeseburger from McDonald’s is ridiculously small. I have never heard of anyone having just one cheeseburger as a meal.
A Big Mac meal is closer to $7. You can make lots of healthy meals for $7, especially if cooking for more than one.
The excuse that people are fat because all they can afford is McDonald’s is lazy and, frankly, stupid. -
Also, no need to eat “fresh” veggies frozen or canned are just as healthy.

So old fat and out of shape people deserve to die?
It's like any other ailment. It will obviously affect the old, fat, and out of shape more severely....but like other contagious diseases you can spread it to someone less fortunate.

He’s not saying that you dolt. He’s asking why we’re all ignoring the elephant in the room. Fauci even said we shouldn’t try to reach here immunity in the US because we’re so fat and it’s like the only thing he’s said all year that hasn’t been treated like the gospel. -
My food bill went down when I started eating healthier. Beans, sweet potatoes, carrots, bananas, and oats are just a few examples. They are some of the cheapest and healthiest foods on the planet.
-
This is just not true. Junk food is expensive as hell.
I shop at Whole Foods mostly, but I also eat my fair share of junk food. The junk is definitely NOT less expensive than healthy meals if you do even a modicum of meal planning. This is a lie meant to absolve fat people of personal responsibility for their bad choices.
A better argument in support of fat people might just be that genetics are destiny, but nobody likes that one for some reason. -

...and if you’re even modestly industrious, a pack of kale seeds is about $1, and it’s just about the easiest thing in the world to grow. For that $1, you could get two year’s worth of fresh kale in a summer. -

It’s not about the cost alone. It’s about the cost AND convenience. You can go to ALDI and buy a huge bag of rice, broccoli, chicken breast, salmon, some fruit...etc. It’s cheap. But then you get home and have to chop vegetables, season everything, marinade the fish, and cook. May not seem like a big deal if you’re working an office job where you sit 8-5, but if you’re on your feet in an Amazon warehouse for 12 hours a day, and get off your shift starving, the last thing you want to do is come home and cook. Same goes for those who work night shifts stocking shelves...etc. Manual labor is exhausting. You just wanna sit in your car and drive up to a window and be fed. -
My husband has treated Covid patients, and the only one so far who will likely not recover is almost 600 lbs. This includes elderly patients and co-morbidities such as COPD, terminal cancer, alcoholism, etc. I’m not saying that the 75% of overweight/obese Americans deserve to die, but just that no one is willing to acknowledge it’s a major issue, and we need to be responsible for our own health.

I don’t buy all of the liberal food BS. If you are overweight you are making really pour choices in your life.
Please take some responsibility and admit your faults. Your friends, family, and every government Employee are lying to you if you think it’s somebody’s else’s fault.
I’m in my 40’s and for about the last 35 years I have lived off of processed cereal and milk, white bread, cheap wheat bread, jiff peanut butter, & jelly. I do eat different things for dinner, and I drink.
75% of my food sources are listed above. From age 6-23 that was easily 90% of my food intake, and frozen pizza and Taco Bell. I didn’t routinely eat a vegetable until I was in college.
So far I look nothing like any of these victims. Please explain? How could this be possible? -

Well, I'm now thinking about the perhaps immediately prior pandemic - the HIV pandemic. I think there's a correlation, though maybe not quite as unexpected, between having HIV and registration as a Democrat.
