I put the over/under at 4 as to how high on the team Nico Young finishes in the next 3 years. I put it at 3 for his college career.
It sounds like he is second right now because of the pacing duties and finishing the workout with Grijalva. Of course, that would mean he had already improved markedly from 7:56/13:50s in the heat with uneven pacing.
The NAU women's team looking strong right now too... 3 women in the low 16s and 8 sub 17.
No. He is not top 7 right now.

Maybe not, but his high school 3k time of 7:56.97 would have been 4th at NAU last winter.
Grijalva ran 7:43, seniors Beamish and Day ran 7:44-45, and Nur ran 7:57. So, Young would be second-returner if he'd been at NAU last year. He's also had the tremendous benefit over high school of altitude training and equal or better teammates. I'd think that he's well ahead of last year's shape now.
I grant that a freshman's 3k ability doesn't mean equal 8k or 10k xc shape against seasoned NAU runners.
I feel like Ferro was at CBA a decade ago! My goodness that kid could scoot.
I can't believe he still has eligibility at NAU.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
