So from what I can see, it looks like people who are young and in general good health (and thus at low risk of significant morbidity and mortality from COVID) are out doing things in groups while people who are old with comorbidities are staying in and protecting themselves from the virus. That seems to me like exactly how people should be behaving. Everyone should behave according to their own risk factors.

Truth! -
If masks work then why social distance? If social distance works then why wear a face diaper?
Oh....they work together, must do them both. I see.
So it IS a super-spreader celebration. -

Yeah, right! And some demented old fart will be President. -
But only the President will be caused by COVID.

I saw that and Honestly I thought those students were being complete idiots. They may have just endangered Notre Dame's best season in decades. Nice job.
The students were required to have a negative COVID test mid-week in order to be allowed to attend the game. I think you are overstating the risk. -

Nearly all of the Philadelphia celebrants were wearing masks. I didn't see many football fans wearing masks. One group was doing 50% of what they should be doing, the other none. That's the difference. I'm still amazed at the number of people that have there heads stuck in the sand or up their...
This is just entirely untrue. Everyone in attendance of Notre Dame games is required to wear a mask. Students are tested in order to get their tickets and most receive negative results. Have you actually looked at pictures from the “celebrations”? Doesn’t really look like many masks are on. Don’t spread things that are fake -

Okay, didn't know they all had to get tested beforehand. We all know there are false positives or could have picked it up over the week. But surrounding your football team on the field after the opposing team's QB got knocked out by Covid was not the brightest move. Hoping it all works out for the best. -

Aw sh!t boys, pack it up this one’s airtight! Those two events are exactly the same in every way shape and form so the fact that these two groups are being perceived differently is truly DISgusting. Thanks for opening our eyes, Runner10287! Where the hell would letsrun be without your contributions?
Tribalism is disgusting and embarrassing. And you are a hateful fraud of a human being there Ohio

Don't backtrack now, your first post was riddled with anger and other emotion. So yeah you care hypocrite. -
With the George Floyd protests, we learned that transmission is not very likely in large gatherings when people are outside and wearing masks. ND could have done a better job keeping the students off the field, but the students are tested and monitored. The Biden celebrations are less risky as the participants are not returning to communal housing and dining. As long as these sort of events are rare, there is no reason to get all worked up about them. ND needs to make sure the students stay off the field if there is a lot of transmission from the game.

Well the same kids storing the field are returning to the same communal housing and dining and community they have been in since August.
