I see you’ve never lived in Manhattan. 20 miles out (or even 5 to the west) may as well be Siberian tundra.
Yes, I enjoy gambling and have never even considered making that trek on a weeknight or whatever. I'd put it in the same category as going to Mohegan/Foxwoods. Gotta plan it out and probably staying the night.
There is an Encore in Everett, and that while not as easy to access as casinos in New Orleans or whatever is still what I'd consider a Boston casino.

isn't this casino all electronic games/slot machines, no table games like blackjack or crps?
I think so, not sure.
hardly a replacement for Atlantic city or Vegas.

I'm pretty sure Mayor de Blasio or then Gov. Cuomo gave somebody the land for $24 worth of trinkets, you know, to make up for Manhattan Island.

It's mostly a failure. Poor people spending their last bits of pocket change for who knows what. It doesn't even look like that when you get there. It started off with a bang but it has just gone down hill as they have to cut back as they weren't making enough money. It's in Southern Queens BTW. Close to the JFK.
Casinos are made from the tears of poor people. Regardless of how glamorous they look on the outside, the insides always smell of cigarettes and desperation.
Many cities are building casinos/more casinos because they're in debt and need to find a way out of the mess they've caused trying to buy votes from liberal sheep via giving them free handouts and benefits.
I don't understand why the Vegas city council or the Nevada state government doesn't make a law against putting casinos other places. This might not be the end of Vegas, but it definitely isn't good for business.

Let's make it happen. We will do some real life filming and Greg can call it a movie. I just hope he can tolerate my degeneracy, carrying around tens of thousands in cash and whimsical drinking.
Everyone who gambles at casinos knows the odds are rigged against them, but they do it anyway. Why?

You seem to be suggesting that the Vegas city council can pass a law telling private companies where they can operate. Resorts World is not even an American Company. How could a US state government have any say in where they open casinos? But maybe I just misunderstood your post.
But on the broader question, a casino in NYC may draw some traffic from Atlantic City but it will have no impact on Vegas at all. If anything, it will make Vegas a more attractive destination. But the true gambling capital of the world is not even Vegas - it's Macau.
