Yea, we already cancelled our holiday plans and will just be at home. We have seen record cases this week in Ohio. It isn't safe to have get togethers. I'm pretty sure Easter will be the possible next holiday with gatherings.

Yet 16 have reportedly died yesterday in Ohio of COVID-19. Out of a population of 11.7 million. Unless you have someone with a pre-existing condition or very old and weak, they are all very safe.
It's a really bad cold for sure. But, it's a really bad cold. That's it folks.
If you have someone at risk in your family or you are, you need to be really careful. The rest of us need to live life and build herd immunity so that this goes away and the vulnerable will not be exposed.
The bottom line is if we let our guard down in June it would have been really hard for a while but by now it would be all but gone.
This will go on forever and keep mutating the way we are handling it.
May as well just throw in another example of a liar pushing the fear porn- Gov. Murphy from NJ:
Oh no a virus that's going to keep mutating- what to do?
Please desist with the platitudes and media hysteria- at least have an original thought- oh and take Virology 101 next semester.
Whoops was suppose to be responding to another- my apologies there.
On that thought we are all mortal. Can we all agree on that?
For me, if it is not this it will be something else. I will be with my family on Thanksgiving. I would rather live my life and die young than hide in a corner until I'm an old man.
1000 years from now what does it matter that I lived an extra 20-30 years because I was careful and too afraid to do the things that made me happy?
That's how I see it. You can say whatever you want about me but I have perspective on life and what freedom is worth.
We all have lost freedoms this year. A lot of you think it is justified. I do not. I have followed all of the rules so far but I am not feeling good about it.
My parents are practically in prison right now. They want to live also for the short time they have left. That's a guarantee for them. They only have a short time left no matter what.
Im with the doc. I have stocked the fridge with banquet turkey and gravy dinners and have hand sanitizer just in case. Im opening all the windows and im requesting even my wife wears a mask. Only 6 people can come and will be 6 feet apart. Yall should do the same. Dont forget your mask by the way.
America's are stupid and selfish, hello death.
We had 66,000 cases today, way, way up from several weeks ago and deaths are going back up close to 1,000 a day and sure to go back over that within a week or two. Fauci can see what's going on. We're looking at a spike even larger than in July, as cases in the Midwest go very high and colder weather is just beginning in a lot of parts of the country. All this ad hominem stuff about Fauci shows how little regard you have for logic and science. Fauci's been right on about most of this and that's politically inconvenient for you. But if the country'd acted decisively like Taiwan and other countries, we'd have pretty much kicked this early and saved hundreds of thousands of lives already. We're at 222,000 deaths and this crowd of trolls doesn't even care.

go ahead and spend the next 5 years avoiding human interaction. touching, hugging, seeing faces, meeting new people, starting new relationships.
and then when you are dying at 80/90/100, in a universe that will go on infinitely, think about those 5 good years you sacrificed.
and think about the current elderly people who are being asked to give up their last good years of being a human being.
I know there are some people who are very strongly on the spectrum and can't understand this type of thing. these are people who are loving this new way of living. But many other people realize that we only live once. And our best years are VERY limited.

Exactly
No cold season has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths, let alone hundreds of thousands.
Worldwide, COVID has killed a documented 1.1 million people. That equals the 1957 Asian Flu toll, and exceeds the 1889 Russian flu and the 1968 Hong Kong flu that killed 1 million.
In the United States, the total is now about 1/3 the Spanish flu death toll and far exceeds that of 1957 and 1968. Per capita, it is close to the 1957 toll in the U.S. and far exceeds the per capita toll of 1968. Putin spreads this kind of nonsense to other countries while keeping himself in a super bubble, far more protected from COVID than any other world leader.

As long as you and your parents understand the risks. I'm a bit more cautious than you but respect your right and won't judge you. Hope you feel the same for those who are much more cautious than you.
No one needs to stay hidden for five years. There are many vaccines in stage two and three testing. In a few months, we'll have a variety to choose from, many of them free, and hopefully, they will put a rapid end to this.
Mid-November is going to be bad. There will be tons of gatherings over the next 2 to 3 weeks with homecoming type activities followed by Halloween and the election. Before we even get to Thanksgiving we will be back at April numbers or higher. Hospitals will be at capacity once more.
Maybe the severity of the disease itself is still debatable but the way the numbers have unfolded from the beginning have made it very apparent what causes spikes and when the cases and deaths follow.
Will Thanksgiving 2020 result in hundreds of thousands of deaths? I don't think so. But will it spread predictably as it has the last 8 months in this country? Absolutely.
I do.
People might be surprised that I coach a XC team and actually have WAY stricter rules than what is called for. The reason is exactly that. I respect that their are those on the team that are scared of this. None of them actually know how I feel about it. I think they think I'm completely on board with the panic.
Our season end mid November. I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving.
and
Amen

At least we agree on that.

Nice find Allen53 - your research skills are most impressive.
I've been debating a clown on another forum who claims to live in Bismarck and states there are no beds available in any hospitals because of Covid. After seeing that link, not only is he an A-1 troll, but he clearly doesn't live in ND either. Imagine that - trolls on anonymous discussion forums making stuff up to fearmonger. That can't happen here...right? Lol.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
