Until those charts get adjusted down, or stay the same, none of us can make a claim either way. Or perhaps you have numbers of 74 year olds that have died where you can show that >3.5% have died this year. You'd still be lacking data for the next 11-13 years, though.
My whole reason for replying in the first place was about a statement that a 74 year old has a 'very high probability' of making it to 84 years old. I'm personally not 'shocked' when a 74-83 year old dies. That's because people of that age don't have a very high probability of living for many more years which those charts clearly show: out of 100 74 year olds, only ~60 (rough number, perhaps +/-5%, I'm not trying to perfectly accurate here) will make it to 84. That's a lot of deaths in my opinion.

You would not take an even money bet on a proposition you had a 60% chance of winning?
Want to explain that one?
Playing the odds would require repeated bets to ensure that I won. If this was a one-time bet, no, I would not take it even with 60% odds. I don't consider 60% to be a 'very high probability' of winning, or not dying for that matter.
No one crying here clown show, just feeding you frightened ones a dose of reality. Good luck behind the mask and spending your life indoors afraid of your shadow

After seeing that video I imagine he checked out on his own since no doctor would approve of him leaving in that state.
I wonder if the doctors can be blamed for negligence if he drops dead in three day for letting him do what he wishes.
The doctor is military and the patient is Commander in Chief. This puts the doctor in a difficult position between potential insubordination and Hippocratic oath.
It's apparent from the press conferences that Dr Conley is trying to avoid saying something that would displease the president without strictly lying.
Enough of the Terror Train drama. For real. Masks do nothing unless you are real sick so stay inside. Just like we have done for generations.
median age of coronavirus deaths in USA - 78
average life expectancy in USA - 78
the majority of people who die from coronavirus were likely going to die from natural causes within the year anyway

Easy for a basement dweller like you to cry out. Mommy will bring you food. You can never leave your house and been seen wearing a silly mask, that would make you cry.

The typical person who has reached 78 years of age has an additional life expectancy of 12 to 13 years.

The whole point is the excess death tallies suggest MUCH more 70+ year olds are dying than we expect.
These stats takes into account your startling revelation that old people are known to die at a higher rate than the younger folks.
It is easy to keep cpntrol over the virus. Stop letting the rich decide and bring back a real democracy.
Trump now cutting the head off our military.....

Hey sh*tface, you and your ilk are responsible for the deaths of thousands. Suicides, addiction relapses, undiagnosed cancers and heart disease, untreated illnesses, etc.
Wear your mask and STFU, you irresponsible dick.

i've read about people who start feeling better, think they are all good, than take a rapid turn downward. he is definitely not out of the woods.
Got all your irrelevant childish insults out of your system, yet?
The excess death tallies tell us one thing at the moment: more people are dying this year than usual/expected.
What does that tell us about years of life lost? Very little to absolutely nothing. We don't know when those same people were going to die absent all of this mess.
The median age of COVID-19 deaths equaling the average life expectancy for someone in the US strongly suggests that those dying didn't have many more years of life left, though. Logically, if they did, the average life expectancy would be higher, wouldn't it?
But as I said above, we'll find out in the years to come. It's impossible to conclude anything right now, unless there's more to this data than what I'm seeing.

Control the pandemic and you control risks like those above.
I appreciate your anger, the situation is hard to handle, but you should be upset mainly with the underwhelming response from our government, not those of us who correctly understood the seriousness of the pandemic. Have a good one, brother.
Kelly Ann Conway brings COVID home and infects her daughter. Very typical secondary infection in a superspreader event. Fortunately, Claudia got tested timely and will isolate, finally breaking the chain. Claudia claims that Trump is in much worse shape than White House will admit. Trump clearly had (has) pneumonia. Aggressive treatment can clear fluid fairly quickly but the scarring will take time to heal. That time line is dependent on whether Trump limits activity.
